Dears

- Is there any provisions for vertical members whether to consider it wall or column ??

i mean ratio of height to width or length ??

Usual rule of thumb is a ratio of 4:1, anything beyond being reasonably designed as a wall. When it is touch and go though, it's a good idea to check what capacity you get if it were designed as a column.

However I have no clue what the American code says.

 
i believe that 4:1 ratio is mentioned in BS code

in the Egyptian code the ratio is 5:1

 
ACI in definitions says a column is 3:1 with the smaller side being the least lateral dimension. But it explains that any member used to carry predominately a compressive load is a column.
