we are having an issue in nx11 where in the drafting side as you move a view on the draw sheet dimensions are staying where they are at instead of moving with the view. this is consistent with ordinate as well as linear dimensions and hole callouts. it seems to be a setting we can't find as not everybody has the same issue.

Are these normal drafting dimensions, drawing sketch dimensions, or PMI dimensions? When you say "not everyone has the same issue", does that mean that the behavior comes and goes based on which user opens the file?

Are all the users running at the same patch level? It looks like 11.0.2 mp11 is the current latest and greatest (for NX 11, at least). I'd suggest patching up to that level if you are not already currently running it.

yes these are normal dimensions. as far as different people, what seems to be happening is that the unruly dims are created by different users. as far as NX patch, i don't have the answer except to say that the software is all controlled from the server, so everybody is running the same version but not necessarily the same user settings?

When Dimensions are placed, are they placed associative to the view?

not sure. can you show or tell me where that setting would be or how to undo it?

Usually, NX is installed on each individual computer and things like site settings, drafting standards, and templates are kept on the server for everyone to use. I wouldn't count on everyone automatically being on the same patch level. I believe it is possible to install NX on the server and allow users to 'log into' the server to use it, but I don't think this is a common setup.

To find your individual patch level, go to menu -> help -> about NX -> system info; the patch level will show up near the top of the dialog. Compare the patch level on a computer with and without the issue to see if there are any differences.

I GUESS I AM MORE INTERESTED IN TRYING TO FIND OUT THE CAUSE (SETTING) THAT CAUSES THIS RATHER THAN WHY NOT ALL OF MY FELLOW MODELERS HAVE DIFFERENT SETTING.

Most drafting settings travel with the file. The situation you describe where it works differently depending on who opens the file is NOT normal behavior. I don't know of any session setting that would cause dimensions to behave as described. I suspect a bug in the early release of NX 11 and that your users are not running the same patch level. This is easy to check and can rule out this possibility in less than 5 min. But hey, do what you like.

If you want to search through settings, a good place to start is preferences -> drafting.
If you want to get really exhaustive, go to the customer defaults -> manage settings and export settings to spreadsheet. Do this on as many workstations as you like and compare the resulting spreadsheets to each other.

i have come to the realization of asking what setting this would be is going nowhere. we are running
NX 11.0.2.7 MP10, 15Jun18. by the way, i did do an exhaustive search in both places, but it's hard to find the setting that does what i have described if you don't know what setting is doing it.

Right click on one of the dimensions that doesn't move with the view and choose the "origin" option. Is the "associative" option turned on? If so, turn it off and click OK. If this corrects the issue with the dimension, then it has to do with the alignment options in use when the dimension was created.
