Hello,

For ANSI symmetric weld symbols, the weld sizes of the 1st and 2nd weld are written (even if they are equally).

For ISO symmetric weld symbols, only the 1st weld size is written according Solidworks.
Is this correct?
I can't find it in the ISO 2553 standard.

The dialog boxes for ANSI and ISO weld symbols differ for symmetric welds.
In the ISO dialog box a symmetric option is available.
When ticked, the weld size value for the second weld is made invisible.
In the ANSI dialog box a symmetric option is not available.
So weld size value for the 1st and 2nd weld are both visible.

Thanks,
Jan

From ISO 2553 Para 5.5.1 Weld Size:

ISO 2553 said:
For fillet welds made on both sides of a joint, the dimensions of both welds shall be specified even if they
are identical (symmetrical).

So You are right and SolidWorks is wrong. What are you going to do?

If it's any consolation, 2014 version of 2553 allows for "System B" - using ANSI-style symbology
