Welding 321 with 316 consumable

I was asked if you can I weld a pressure vessel made from 321 st/st with a 316l consumable. In my opinion I think you should be using 347 consumable. I know that 321 works to higher temperatures than 316l I think can anybody confirm this .

It would appear to me that you are correct in questioning the 316L, and suggesting 347 filler metal. What are the service conditions of the vessel, what type of welding (pressure boundary)? The selection of filler metal requires an understanding of strength and corrosion requirements in service.

Technically, you can weld using 316L filler metal. However, if is the correct choice is a completely different matter for use on this vessel. Can you provide more information?
 
Not really as the client does not know himself if it is 321h or 321 but thamks for the help
