Weldment Cut List, Mass Units problem

I am trying to learn the weldment features using SW2012x64 in preperation of taking the certification test. I am going through the 2009 training manual I found lying around the office (I know it’s slightly outdated). The exercise I am working on, I believe to have the model geometry correct as the lengths and weights on the components match the book. But, when I create a ‘Weldment Cut List’ in the drawing, the Weight column does not match the model (see attached).

The Document Properties’ Mass Units are set to Pounds on both the model & drawing, and yet the drawing’s values are at 0.128x the correct value. (44.318 & 2.882 are the correct values for items 1 & 2)

Never mind, I figured it out.

Sneaky SW added a derived configuration called “Default[As Welded]” to my model at some point without my knowledge. And so, I never added any material properties to that config. (hence the mass difference)
The problem compounded when I created the drawing. The model view, which was using the parent config Default[As Machined] (SW renamed my default config). I created a CutList table from that view which was forced to use the derived [as welded] configuration.

I deleted the derived configuration, and all is good again. But the question still remains…why?

hi CADFlyer, your post was really appreciated... It solved my problem too.
Did you understood why it happens?
