I have a piece of chrome moly pipe, I have requested an MTR (certificate of inspection) for which I have done many times before. I know what it is but what does MTR stand for?

Thanks.

There are caveats when getting an MTR.

One of the worst is the use of the word "typical" in the heading of the actual report.

Another problem that has shown up is not properly tying the material to the MTR.
There is quite a lot misuse of the word "lot number" instead of heat number.

Just make sure your MTR matches the particular material you receive.

This will probably escalate as manufacturers are scrambling to raw materials due the present shortages in the metal markets.

MTR is usd for:
Mill Test Report and Material Test Report.

Mill test reports are issued by a manufacturers of metals.

Material test reports may be issued by a manufacturer or by the supplier.
