We are having a discussion with a customer that wanted a sharp corner or at least .008 rad or less in an ID counterbore. This was not noted on their drawing. It was drawn per ansi/asme Y14.5 1994. They do have a not to break all sharp edges to .015. Is there a standard for sharp corners when nothing is noted? thanks

Unless specified otherwise if it is shown sharp then it should be sharp within the size tolerance of the bore.

Envelope principle.

Thanks, do you have somewhere I could find that in writing to show someone. Thanks again

ASME Y14.5M-1994.

Maybe section 2.7, with a bit of 1.4m thrown in.

In essence, if the bore dia is at MMC it must be sharp corner. As the diameter moves from MMC toward LMC this unused tolerance would allow small radii.
