IATA urges government action as it forecasts $128bn annual net-zero spend
24 Sep 2024

Airline association IATA forecasts an average of $128 billion in annual capital expenditure will be needed for the airline industry to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

so the airline sector need to spend $128B per year to meet "Net Zero" goals ?? $1.3T per decade ... I guess airfare prices will be going up ?

If you have nothing positive to contribute to the topic of the forum, why participate? I get it that you may not think climate change exists or should not be addressed but the forum was created to talk about engineering solutions to climate change. If you don't think any effort should be invested in finding solutions to something you don't believe exists, why spend time here? If you want to discuss the merits of climate change as a valid topic perhaps create another forum? This forum was created for engineers that want to spend time here discussing solutions to climate change with other like-minded engineers. Discussing why the forum is barking up the wrong tree chases away engineers that want to discus the forum's topic in a meaningful way. This diminishes the value of the forum, the website and the community. If it is your object to kill the forum and chase away other engineers, again - why participate in such negative and unproductive speech? Find or create another forum, or find a forum that your expertise can be used in a positive manner.

Have you considered posting ideas that that actually make sense?
