Got a list of VOCs but have no solid method of determining the heating values (BTU/lb) or (BTU/scf).
Ethylene carbonate (EC)
Dimethyl carbonate (DMC)
Ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC)
Diethyl carbonate (DEC)
Propylene carbonate (PC)
Propyl propionate
Ethylene glycol (EG)
N-methyl pyrrolidone

Does anyone know of a method or source where I can find this type of information?

--Einstein gave the same test to students every year. When asked why he would do something like that, "Because the answers had changed."

N8Cole,

Write out the combustion chemical formula and use the heats of formation (often found in NIST database) to determine the heat of combustion.

For those that NIST does not have the data (i.e. dimethyl carbonate), I found an online source that estimates the properties as well:

Yes TiCl, most people don't remember J.W. Gibbs

Just an example for ethylene carbonate:

C3H4O3(s) + 2.5(O2)(g) -> 3(CO2)(g) + 2(H2O)(l)

Hcomb = (2*HfH2O+3*HfCO2) - (HfC3H4O3+HfO2)
Hcomb = (2*(-285 kJ/mol) + 3*(-393.5 kJ/mol))-(-581 kJ/mol + 0) = -1,169 kJ/mol

Note that this is the standard heat of formation, meaning it is taken at 298 K with all reactants and products in their normal state at 298K.
You can then take the products (water, CO2, etc) and manipulate them to the combustion temperature using heat capacity, heat of vaporization, etc.

Hi,
Heat of combustion C5H9NO: -2994 KJ/mol
Heat of combustion C2H6O2: -7259 btu/lb
Heat of combustion C3H4O3: -1170 KJ/mol
Heat of combustion C5H10O3: -9760 btu/lb.
ETC
A Google search is your ultimate resource or perform calculation as suggested above.
