Hi, I bought a set of drill bits from Amazon:

Hymnorq 1.0 to 10mm Metric Jobber Twist Drill Bits Set of 19pcs Titanium Coated HSS 4241, Straight Shank for General Purpose in Wood Plastic and Soft Metal Sheet

To my disappointment, they could not even drill IKEA wood! How come?

Are there any specifications that I should pay attention to?

I check to see what the bad ratings are because of. A lot of times the complaints have absolutely nothing to do with the performance of the product and everything to do with the user's ineptitude in using it.

totally disagree, how hard is it to drill hole in wood,
some maybe but not all, it is true some have no mechanical aptitude, but there is a lot of talent out there, and they are not engineers, they are the people who build the parts, and many catch your mistakes, because let him speak out that they are perfect and never make mistakes,
these people catch the many mistake made with the fancy 3 d models that look pretty but are flawed.
constructive criticism is good, condescending criticism is bad.

I review "each review" and look at the facts, because as engineers that's what we do. we work with facts, but we do and have made mistakes,
my customers love me, because I catch many of their mistakes, concurrent engineering, because I am the gear specialist.
I am I perfect no, I had a close group of people, even the janitors, worked closely as a group. as whole we made the customer parts happen,
all had equal say,
all had something to contribute, I was more of project engineer, and put all together.

No, I quite agree with SuperSalad. Read the reviews, and you'll get things like "my drills were the wrong color, I wanted blue ones and got silver instead" or "I thought these would work in my blender but they don't fit", etc.

The wife always reads reviews, focusing mostly on the 1- and 2-star reviews. She was showing me her technique when we went looking for Air BnB places to rent on vacation. Reviews that highlighted things like bedbugs or noise, i.e. things that will affect our comfort/sleep were red flags. Complaints about the lack of amenities (which are clearly spelled out in the listings) or location (also clearly shown in the app) get ignored. You have to consider the source, but don't ignore the information.
