Why won't NX6 copy sketches or curves?

Hi all. Quick question.

Say I have a pressure vessel that I want to put some labels on at 4 locations, clocked 90 degrees apart. I can use the "Text" command to create my label in one location, but there is apparently no way to copy it to the other three locations. I have to create each instance of the label individually.

My question is what is the reasoning for this behavior in NX6? Why are curves and sketches not allowed to be copied, moved, mirrored, etc.? Or, if there is a way to make a copy (doesn't have to be associative although that would be nice) of a curve, how do you do it?

thanks.

When you say 'text', are you referring to the 'Text' function found at...

Insert -> Curve -> Text...

...?

If so have you tried using...

Insert -> Associative Copy -> Instance Geometry...

...?

BTW, this will work for the curves of a Sketch as well.

So it does. I guess I just had my selection filter set to ignore curves. My bad! Thanks for the help!

Yes, in the case of a Text feature or a Sketch, it's the CURVES which you can copy, not that actual feature itself. Of course, since the copies can be associated to the original feature curves, editing the Text or Sketch will cause the copies to update, as if they were features themselves, so it's no big deal. Note that in this case, if you leave the Type Filter set to 'No Selection Filter' everything will work just fine as the application already knows what it can or cannot select.
