Hello,

Does anyone know where is the provision that states that method 2 (Buildings of all heights) cannot be used for buildings with expansion joints? Or is it implicit by the load cases in figure 6-9?

Thanks

I think you can use it since it gives you leeward and windward values. You can't use the simplified method (now called envelope) if the diaphragm is discontinuous through an exp jt.

When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty but when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.
