Bolts subject to bending - Ledger board fastened through brick veneer

Thanks phamENG. Agreed, it's not easy, just looking for re-assurance that it isn't easy to verify bolts in bending. Stiffness is a whole other issue. Bearing stresses and cross grain tension and torsion further complicates things. Just curious if there actually is any literature out there...

    Soil type

Perhaps Marl? We see a fair bit of it in the Ottawa area? We've found similar deposits near swampy areas, some deposits near rivers, etc. May be able to dig up a photo. Feels almost chalky to touch and very light weight. Consists of some organic content and is classified as an organic soil...

    Rafter Tie Spacing

There is no usual spacing as it depends on your rafter design and the lateral thrust. If your using the rafter ties in conjunction with ceiling ties then the rafter ties are being utilized to reduce the span of the rafters and the ceiling ties to resist lateral thrust. If your omitting ceiling...

Designing wood rafters with raised rafter tie spaced every second rafter (Lateral thrust)

Good Evening All and thank you in advance for your input. This is presently being debated within our office. A client would like to construct a roof with a raised rafter tie located at the lower 1/3rd of the ridge height. Those rafter ties would be provided at 4 foot on centre and rafters at...

    Glass Guard Approval

As EDStainless said, most of the glass guards we design have the stamp in the bottom corner. Perhaps they have an invoice with more spec's on the glass? If the hardware is from C.R. Laurence, you may be able to find detailed spec's here...

    Deck to existing house

Perhaps the Simpson Strong Tie BVLZ? Unsure if they'd have approval in your state yet, but may be worth consideration if it meets the loading. https://www.strongtie.com/deckconnectors_decks/bvl_plate/p/bvlz#LoadTables

    Solar panel mounting system

I'm unsure the area you are in, but in our area (Ontario, Canada) the national building code has very helpful structural commentaries for solar arrays on roofs to calculate the wind uplift on the array. Paragraphs 56 to 58 of NBC 2015 Structural Commentaries Part 4 of Devision B. For part 9...
