Thanks for quick reply!
I am reading the connector element manual right now but could you please specify some I could use in this case? I still can't see how I can use one element to represent both gap and spring properties. It would be best if one kind of elements could be set to represent the...
Dear Masters:
I need to constrain a few beams (or nodes) within such a domain, somehow like a well with elastic walls. I am thinking of creating 4 extra nodes and connceting them to the modelled nodes (or beams)using spring elements and with certain gap between the springs and the nodes - so...
I read on the mannual:
By allowing you to specify l, the origin of the local cross-section axis can be placed anywhere on the symmetry line (the local 2-axis). In the above figures a negative value of l implies that the origin of the local cross-section axis is below the lower edge of the...
Sorry about that.
Generally, I want to check if the shell and beam contact is on the right surface of each item. As you know, beam has no surface to show on the viewer, right?
Cheers
Janna
In the manual, beam section property, I read something about "L", which can be specified offset to use for a shell stiffener.
I understand this is like to define the real contact surface with shell by specifying this "L".
But how am I supposed to check it?
(The global resutls are actually...
Sorry for so many questions at one time. I've been used ABAQUS some time ago for other business but how I just couldn't get it done!:(
As for this one, I chose wire in 3D but can only using "planer" method. So only 2D data can be input while I want the beams in 3D construction.
Thanks in advance
It appears very badly in my computer. Not like what we used to creat line by line. When I rearraged it by hand, it has a funny square ends for each "enter"....
Thanks for answering this silly question:)

Cheers. But could the input of "section stiffness matrix" under "shell section" serve my purpose?
I know the beam and frame el can do this. Maybe I can add extra beam on the shell to get this...but doesn't it sound more complicated.
