I'm doing a report on Space Frame Foundations in Arctic Regions and I need to find some journal articles or specialty conference papers for references. Actually any information would be appreciated. I've checked the Triodetic website and they don't give much on foundations. I also checked the...
I'm working on a 14 acre wastewater lagoon that has no single well-defined discharge stream. The are about 12 small (6’W x 4’D) discharge streams. The locals are concerned that the lagoon is short-circuiting back upstream of their raw water intake on a nearby river. We need to dam all these...
This is an above ground aluminum utilidor system in a small village in Alaska. The soils are too poor to do gravity or buried sewer lines. Our best option right now is to fabricate a 6"x2" HDPE 45 deg wye with a flange adapter on the 2" branch. We are going to install these fittings at each...
I asked this same question a few months ago, but didn't get any responses. I am designing a vacuum sewer system out of 6" HDPE SDR 11 pipe. The service lines from individual homes are 2" HDPE SDR 11. AirVac recommends connecting the service line to the main with a 6"x6"x2" HDPE 45deg. wye...
Im a civil engineer in Alaska. I'm still a few years away from getting my PE but this is what I know. The University of Alaska Anchorage offers an online short course for this requirement which is approved by the Alaska State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors...
Here is a little more information. This aluminum utilidor will house two 6" HDPE water lines and one 6" HDPE vacuum sewer line. It will be installed in a small village in western Alaska. It will be supported by helical piers driven into the permafrost and 6" angle iron cross members. The...
I am designing approx. 5000 feet of above-ground utilidor (3' wide x 1.5' tall out of 1/8" aluminum with 4" of board foam insulation) and one of the concerns is to keep kids from playing on it. The utilidor is anywhere from 0-5 feet above the ground. My first thought was to fabricate a...
I am replacing a watermain and I need to connect the new 14" HDPE SDR 11 to the existing 14" SCH 10 Steel pipe going into a pumphouse. Currently the main is connected to the pumphouse piping with a 14" Dresser coupling (outside the pumphouse, below grade). I was thinking either a flanged...
What size is your HDPE pipe. You could butt-fuse a reducer and flange adapter and backing ring onto the HDPE pipe and have a simple flanged connection. There are lots of vendors for those fittings.
Does anyone know of a HDPE Butt Fusion Machine that will fuse 6"-10" x 18" HDPE Arctic Pipe without having to strip the CMP Jacket back. I am looking for a light weight machine that is designed for close quarter fusing.
I'm having trouble finding a vendor in the northwest, Alaska specifically, for 1/8" THK x 2" Wide Neoprene/EPDM/SBR Foam Rubber Adhesive Strips. I need a few thousand feet of it. Any suggestions??
I am working on a project in which a school and teacher housing will have gravity sewer lines to a lift station. We will eventually turn the system into a vacuum sewer system and the lift station into a vacuum valve pit. Does anyone have any experience with this conversion from a lift station...
I'm looking at an ultrasonic flow meter for 10" HDPE forcemain and I was wondering if anyone knew what the advantages/disadvantages of a single head flow sensor would be.
I am working on a project where I have a 6" HDPE SDR 11 vacuum sewer line (along with other pipes) inside an aluminum utilidor approx. 2'H X 3'W with 4" boardfoam all around. I need to find a SS service saddle with a 2" IPS X approx. 10" MIPT nipple at 45 degs. Since this is a 2" lateral...
I guess I should have been a little more clear. I am designing a flow metering station in Western Alaska to measure the instantaneous flow rate and total flow through a 6x12 HDPE SDR 11 Arctic Pipe Forcemain(6" pipe inside a 12" CMP jacket, foam insulation between). The metering station will...
I am working on a project in which I need to install a flow meter vault (horseshoe style manhole) to measure the flow of domestic wastewater on a 6" HDPE sewer main. The flow meter needs to be a non invasive "strap-on" style that will fit inside the 4' diameter manhole. The sensors need to be...
