2507 super duplex pipe not passing G48A

thank you very much for all you help, it it greatly appreciate. The outcome of this PQR was as followed: 1. I added an extra purge line to the coupon totaling 3 lines each running at 20Lpm. this was to have a good volume of gas with out having excessive pressure / to high a flow rate from...

2507 super duplex pipe not passing G48A

Thank you for your reply Edstainless, I am looking at proposing a new WPS to the client. Where I will change the filler wire as stated above to the Boholer brand, due to the fact this wire specifications state the manufacturer has tested with G48. I would like to try a hydrogen gas mix as I...

2507 super duplex pipe not passing G48A

Hello all, We have been trying to complete a PQR for super duplex pipe. As per client specification this PQR must pass G48-A 40degC. We have passed all other testing requirements, except for the G48. Pipe: ASTM A790 USN32750 Size: 200NB sch 40 and 200NB sch 20 Position 5G vertical up backing...

    AS2885.2 tiar 1

I have a pipe pipe line I am inspecting on, construction code is AS2885.2 T1. The pipe is 457mm OD and was meant to be 15.9mm wall thickness. Pipe is AIP 5L X70 grade seamed pipe. I have come into this job after 3Km of pipe has already been welded and now I have found the pipe to only have a...

Thickness rage ASME IX and B31.3 WPS???

Dekdee, I completely agree no criticism at all intended. A man with this sort of knowledge deserves to be paid accordingly 100%. If they knew they would get 200 people at each of the seminars then the price could be reduced, however something like this in Perth would not attract that sort of a...

    PQR D1.1 Diameter question

Hello All, I have a question regards range of diameters when qualifying a PQR, if I run a PQR on 300NB STD pipe will the DIAMETER range on the WPS be unlimited. As long as the welder is qualified using the right diameter pipe for the job. Example: if I was to do a PQR on 300NB pipe as long as...

    I have a metallurgy questing that I

Hello brimstoner, I can assure you we did toughness testing to -60 deg Celsius. At first I though the client had made a mistake between deg F and deg C. But after a bit of back and forth we had to conduct impact testing to -60C, they also would not accept lateral expansions, the acceptance was...

    I have a metallurgy questing that I

Thank you so much for the replies, greatly appreciated. Edstainless, the PQR I run for this job had A923 corrosion testing, ferrite examination, macro, impact testing to -60C, all passed no problem. The wire I am using is 2209LSi and a 2% nitrogen gas mix for the back purge and the welding...

    I have a metallurgy questing that I

I have a metallurgy questing that I was hopping you may be able to clear up for me. I have a few Duplex 2205 S31803 welds that have been subject to ferrite testing. The testing was conducted using a Fischer Feritscope MP-30. The client specification stipulates that a ferrite percentage (%) of...

Thickness rage ASME IX and B31.3 WPS???

Good morning Dekdee, Thank you very much for this. I will be using ASME IX 2020 and B31.3 I think is 2019 or 2020 as well. So there for you say the thickness range is T to 2T? Ok I will have to adjust on my end. Thanks. I would be very very interested in the ASME IX presentation,I am a weld...

Thickness rage ASME IX and B31.3 WPS???

Thank you SmartWeld. After reading the post from the link you gave me. I understand it that because the production welds I am doing are to ASME B31.3 the thickness limits of B31.3 (1/2 T to T +6mm) apply and NOT the ASME IX limits of T to Tx2.

Thickness rage ASME IX and B31.3 WPS???

Hello everyone, My question is about thickness rage on WPS. If I qualify a PQR on pipe with wall thickness of 10.97mm. The PQR is qualified to ASME IX and the actual job is ASME B31.3. And impact testing was required CVN apply. According to ASME IX my thickness rage is 10.97mm to 21.96mm but...

As per B31.3 Impact test acceptance

There is no requirement for energy values only lateral expansion. how ever I have had clients (one any way) that only would accept energy absorbed, there acceptance was 45J single and 50J average. This was for S31803 duplex.

P number ground for cladded material

Hello all, I am trying to develop my first clad PQR. The base material is, ASTM A516-70N. I then cladded this plate with inconel 625. We then prepared the plate for a single vee bevel and welded the butt, using ERNiCrMo-3 GTAW wire. My question is: on the WPS what P member will the bas...
