This is true ewh, I may have been too radical in my statement. I don't particularly enjoy working on AC but as a matter of fact, in my field (naval architecture, this is the main exchange format and I hhave to deal with that.
unwam2ie, thanks for your answer. I may not have understood so, do...
Hi everyone,
I use UG (on a PC with XP) for 5 years now, and frequently need to export the drafting to autoCAD (we do have the 2d exchange license). I have to say I often struggled a lot on that, first to get what I want in drafting, and then to get the same on autoCAD.
I noticed some great...
Hi jeek,
thanks very much for these info, I'll try with Fiat then, I since found out Ducati is also using UG, but I thing they're in the north of Italy.
see you on this site ;o)
David
Hi jeekelemental,
and thankks for sharing stuff.
I come to you for a general info: your part is in italian, and i wonder if many companies in Italy are using NX as I'm thinking of moving there (Rome to be more precise).
cheers
David
Chris,
thanks for your answer.
first I apologise, I didn't state I'm using NX4 on windows XP.
Maybe you're using a different version of NX, but when i do as you say, right-clicking on the curve, I have the contextual menu appearing, and the only thing I can do is "select from list", and from...
hello UG users and "teachers".
when doing a datum plane with the type "plane on curve", the location has to be given in mm (or inch). As I often want to place it at mid length, being able to enter a percentage would be of great help as I wouldn't have to save the arc length measurement and use...
just a little tip if you don't want to disable all the snap points, keep pressing ALT when you select the line. you can also use a vector instead of the line when applicable.
regards
David
Ok thank you Tim,
sorry about the lack of statement, I'm not too used to post on the forum: I'm working on NX4, mostly modeling together with assembly, and drafting for 2D exchanges.
in fact, I'm hardly ever using "external reference", sometime spreadsheet but not often. I'm doing rather big...
hello UG users,
can anyone tell me what is the difference between "update" and "update for external change"?
it seems "update for external change" is more complete, but I can't find out in what way.
if anyone know...
thanks in advance.
David
does anyone knows how to sort my prob:
I installed NX4 on a new machine and since, all sheet bodies, when object display is set with 0% transluency, come with one face invisible. I guess I must have a setting wrong and played with the visualization preferences but couln't manage to find a...
I find this post particularly interesting, thanks to noyce and all those who give their best practices.
I did the google search shadowspam suggested in the previous post and found several intersting things. one of them was refering to a book :
Practical Unigraphics NX3 Modeling, Drafting and...
hi everyone,
just to have confirmation by the experts on this forum: as far as I know, there is no way to extract spline poles associatively nor to snap on them, is there?
thanks in advance.
FYI: I use NX4
Hi everyone,
this debate about associative basic curves brings up a lot of interesting issues! I therefore also give my point of view:
I'm a NX (ex UG) user for 6 years now, and I am, as fgbrender, a big proponent of the sketcher, however, since ABC appeared in NX3, I also found them very...
hello Tim, and thanks for your answer.
the orange body is a solid, if it looks as it does not completely cover the aquamarine body, it's just because of the display on the screen.
As descibed in a previous post, that orange body has been built using a TCM (in fact 2, sewed together)with...
hello,
sorry for the late reaction, I was away the last days.
I don't know if there is a particular way to post picture on the site, so I do it using links (they stay 21 days).
on the picture 1 http://cjoint.com/?hdoOxFVdab , you see I want to unite the orange body to the blue one. if I try I...
hello,
I'm a yacht designer in Europe. I use a lot the Through Curve Mesh for the tangency constraints it can provide. When I want to unite two bodies coming from an extrusion of two TCM which are both tangent to themselves, I (nearly) constantly get that message :
"thru face does not...
Hi butelja, Shadowspawn and Cowski,
I'm not quite sure of understanding the solid mechanics/strength issue of your problem, but from what I understood of the geometric constraints you have (both end positions of hose - G0-, both end tangancy - G1 -, and hose length), bridge curve can...
I answer my own post as I found out NX2D is a different program than NX, coming from IDEAS, and requires a specific licence.
'till next time
