Convert an extruded cut to an extruded boss/base

Hi, I have an intricate cut that I intend to convert to an extruded boss/base. Is there a way to do this in SW2011? Thanks.

Drawing dimensions for hole callout: Add spacing parameter?

EEnd: Thanks. Your solution is what I needed. However, the text alignment is not right. If the note says "Spacing XXX", the XXX part is not aligned right with the entire text box. It works though.

Drawing dimensions for hole callout: Add spacing parameter?

Thanks. My query is probably non-standard, but what I intend to know is whether this can be done in SW2011? I want the hole spacing to be parametric. If I change a 1" spacing to 1.5" in the part, I would like that to be reflected in the drawing. Any ideas? Thanks.

Drawing dimensions for hole callout: Add spacing parameter?

Hi, I have a pattern of holes. To reduce clutter, when I dimension, I want to add a hole spacing info. Is there a way to modify the hole spacing info here. I see that the spacing info has an associated variable like this: "RD3@Drawing View10" . Is there something that could be done? Thanks.

Drawings: Material properties from the part

Thanks all. Adding it in the templated solved the problem.

Drawings: Material properties from the part

Hi, I have a question: 1. If I want to have the part's materials properties in the drawing ($PRPSHEET:{Material}), in the part, I have to go to File>Properties>Custom and select the Material under property. Why is this not populated automatically? (I am using a custom material, if it matters)...

Combine multiple, but similiar hole call-outs (Merging annotations, SW2011, SP1)

Hi, When I create 4 holes as a single feature, when creating a drawing, I get something like "4x ⌀.20 THRU all". However, if I create them as separate, I don't get it (understandable). However, is there a way to merge them into one? Thanks.

Hole wizard. Cannot constrain the first hole to another reference hole.

AnnaWood: Thanks. That worked. I don't see the center of the referene (+ sign), but at least it lets me select the reference surface for dimensioning.

Hole wizard. Cannot constrain the first hole to another reference hole.

Hi, I have SW 2011. When I try to use the hole wizard, it asks to select the plane (for the hole), when I select the plane, the first hole is placed wherever the plane was selected. However, I want it to be concentric to an already existing hole and it doesn't give me a way to add relations...

Assembly and Model color disappears when re-opened

Hi, When I try to open an assembly, all the colors appear for a brief second and then show up as gray. Any idea what's going on. All the components show up as "Default display state". Thanks.

    Version control?

Hi, Is there a version control system, either built-in, or that I could use with Solidworks. I have used Subversion with software development projects. Thanks.

2011: Smart Fasteners result in "Under defined" assembly.

Thanks. That was it. I wasn't sure what kind of mates it uses. I added a parallel mate (to constrain rotation) and, now it is fully defined.

2011: Smart Fasteners result in "Under defined" assembly.

Hi, I am new to Solidworks. I started using the Smart fasteners feature and when the right fastener gets aligned with the hole, the assembly is "Under defined". If I add an additional "Mate", it says, "Over defined". What's the issue here? Why is it under defined and how to make it "fully...
