Auto Transfer Switch in place of Low Voltage breaker

There are also ATS that have an integrated panel w/ CBs.

Spacing of electrical equipment in a substation

I would imagine that limits of approach. Distance between phases and the location of each piece of equipment would dictate your site's footprint.

    Purpose of Disconnecting The Neutral

The neutrals from each source should always be switched to avoid transfer of potential.

    Soil resistivity measurement

We typically do 9 or 10.

Resistors in series with tripping coils in 125VDC power circuit breaker control schemes. WHY ?

Resistors are voltage dividers for the lights. lights are usually rated for 110V and the control voltage is usually 125-130V. So without it you'd risk burning out the coil/light/etc. (Apologies if I misunderstood what you are asking)

    Old electromechanicl relay GEC CTG25

I remember reaching out to get a hold of a manual for an old electromechanical relay a while back. Sorry I don't remember which. This was an old obsoleted model and they were able to get me a manual, so i recommend you reach out directly to the manufacturer and ask for it. You may get lucky...

Revenue metering for Mixed type of Renewables (ie: Solar/Wind)

Thank you all for your responses. This points me in the right direction and who to ask what. I really appreciate the insight. After reading your responses I went ahead and contacted our Meter supplier who also program our meters and confirmed this would be driven by the user/utility's...

Revenue metering for Mixed type of Renewables (ie: Solar/Wind)

I have been seeing a lot of new independent power producers and i am seeing new requirements for different types of set ups. I have not seen any conversations around set-ups where different types of renewables are used together. Specifically when a single 35kV bus taking 5 feeders and 2 of...

    Wind Farm Load usage calculation

This question is stated backwards as to what the utility usually requests. Generally they will ask what is your Max, Min, Typical Generation. Max will be the top capacity with all turbines working at max capacity. Min will be no wind so no generation (no load losses) Average what you expect...

What is Metering in SEL 700G? How d

I feel like i should also mention to make sure your PT/CT is measurement canada approved. your province would dictate what %error/burden/class is the minimum requirement. be sure to get the correct one. You do NOT want to get these approved at the last minute. Revenue Canada is is NO rush ever...

What is Metering in SEL 700G? How d

@maradona129508, I mean, this is the research you should be doing i dont know your location every province would have different vendors which would have different approved models. from the region I am from, there are a few but the main ones we use is the ION8650. i hear they are moving to the...

Relay Replacement on MetalClad Switchgear (Existing Doors vs New)

I've never replaced the door, only made a cut big enough for a cut out already with relay mounted. but the TBs were inside of switchgear. i think if you can fabricate everything on the door it may be more cost effective (less field time wiring) but if the TBs are inside of the enclosure you...

What is Metering in SEL 700G? How d

one thing to add is that neither is Revenue Canada approved. so you would have to get a different relay if you plan on doing revenue metering. SEL-735 would work as meter/check meter.

    RELAY WIRING QUESTION

Since this looks to be a trip output from a relay for a CB. I would say it is trying to show the common positive of a Trips daisy chain.

    IEEE 485 Battery Calculation Question

it probably has to do with the actual chemical composition and how the physical manifestations of the battery when it discharges. you consider a momentary load for the whole duration because it is a spike in the discharge/battery. so this is all the battery sees/cares about. thus, it makes...

    Metering vs. measurement

That's vague. If they are talking about the incomer, that assumes CT has to have metering accuracy. but if you are talking about relays then I agree with RRaghunath. You need to confirm if they are talking about: 1) SCADA matering (IED function is enough) 2) Revenue metering (metering...

    Cable Tray

I am not a grounding guy but I figured i'd weigh in. It 100% is dangerous. That is why only qualified personnel should be allowed near it even when everything is working properly. Bonding and grounding minimizes this hazard by giving the short/fault a path to ground, instead of it being the...
