Patran 2014 1D Spring ---> 1D Spring Property Inputs Explaination?

Usually you search 'FATAL' in the f06 file, and the first finding will give you the hint about your problem. In your case, it is '*** USER FATAL MESSAGE 9994 (BULKPM) MAT1 with MID=2 near line 120381 User information: E:3.40282+38 is an illegal real value.' Go check the E (Young's modulus)...

    Nastran SOL700 problem

Patran needs you to tell which version of Nastran you want to use. It has a default one (for example Nastran 2012). And you probably are using another one (for example Nastran 2013). You can use 'Translation Parameters' in the Analysis form to check what is the default one Patran is using. And...

    Building contact between two solids

    1. usually contact body with finer mesh and softer material should be the slave. 2. from you description, the contact between the 2 bodies is touching contact. 3. These options determines the mater/slave. If you are not sure, you should use Automatic. 4. You should read Nastran Quick Reference...

basic problem with MSC.Nastran input deck

You need to open the f06 file, search 'fatal', and paste the fatal error message Nastran reports.

    Building contact between two solids

You should use 3D option. You don't need to select Contact Area. You should define 2 contact bodies, and select 1 solid for 1 contact body. After you define 2 contact bodies, in the subcase definition, you can define contact table. And you should deactivate self contact (contact between 1 and...

SOL 400: "NSM" IN PSHELL or PCOMP CARDS NOT COMPUTED

It sounds like a bug. You should probably report it to MSC.

Very different displacements in Linear and Non-Linear Analysis

Not sure about your question. Results without contact is different from results with contact. That sounds reasonable to me.

    Can't View Title in Viewport

I had no such problem. If you change the 'Title Editor' settings in the 'Results' tab, will that make the title come up?

    Can't View Title in Viewport

    Have you tried 'Display\Titles' menu?

    nastran fatal error 316

For each layer of your PCOMP with ID 14, there is no material ID.

    composite progressive failure

You forgot to assign the material to the elements?

composite progressive failure analysis in Patran / Nastran SOL 600

I don't use Sol 600. I usually just use Marc. So I don't know the answer. But you can probably try other types of forces, if they are available in the results.

composite progressive failure analysis in Patran / Nastran SOL 600

Check the damage plot in your structure to determine the first ply failure load. Check this video starting from 9 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHJvlwVmMJs. For ultimate failure load, if you have the load-deflection curve, why can't you find that from the curve?

    Inertia Relief

Add 'param,inrel,-2' in your bulk data section to activate inertia relief.

composite progressive failure analysis in Patran / Nastran SOL 600

You need to post-process the t16 file in Patran. In Patran, you can use XY-Plot in the Results tab to create load deflection curve.

"Zero thickness" error in SOL 600

There should be some problem in the shell element property definition. You need to check those entries.

Different thickness field for each shell side

So you want to use a single layer of shell elements, even for the area with holes?

"Zero thickness" error in SOL 600

Did this error come up before the nonlinear iteration or in the middle of the iteration?
