Thank you, and I am familiar with the standard.
But, like I posted, we don't follow any standard to its fullest, so I am wondering if the symbol on the diameter line would convey the wrong intent?
Greetings,
I know the drafting standard says to attach a finish symbol to the extension line of the dimension, but the consensus of the younger folk is that the symbol attached to the dimension line is more clear and easier to read. We don't adhere fully to any particular drafting standard...
I am new to NX 9, and am trying to find the quickest way to dimension a hole (counterbore, threaded, etc.) in drafting? Also, what if the hole is from the backside in the view?
I already tried switching roles (twice), and that didn't work. I always thought that was just a fancy cog symbol put in by someone who likes Gears of War... nice to know its function now.
Thanks everyone, problem solved.
I have a new engineer who is using the same customer defaults and roles as the rest of us. But, for some reason, when she tries to insert a Note, she does not see any of the expanded information for leaders, origin, symbols, etc. All she sees is Origin, Text Input, and Inherit.
We are...
In the table itself, right click on the individual cell and go to Edit Text (it is not the default option). This brings up the dialog box to put the symbols in easily.
Does anyone know if you can output a Collada (.dae) file from NX? Or, another format type to get a Collada file? My end goal is to import a u3d file into Adobe Acrobat.
Thanks.
I verified that my original thought was correct. I added my name to an open Enhancement Request to get this fixed.
The variable name in the env file for creating multiple parts lists also turns off the auto-ballooning of more than one instance:
UGII_UPDATE_ALL_ID_SYMBOLS_WITH_PLIST to =1 by...
I have updated the parts list, but it is still not working. Here is my process:
1) Insert -> Annotation -> Balloon
2) Remove any text in the Text field of the dialog.
3) Click on the part to balloon, then drag the leader, then place the balloon on the drawing.
4) Right click my Parts List ->...

I found this old thread, but couldn't get the solution to work. Are there specific settings that this is allowed for? I do have the environment variable set to allow multiple Parts Lists, and was thinking that maybe this is causing issues.
I am trying to add additional...
Is there an automatic update anywhere for NX software? I know most other CAD packages have this option, and it is a pain to download off the ftp site to get the latest.
Thanks,
Linda
this vb file creates non-smart points, so I have no way of controlling the points inserted. After speaking with GTAC, there seems to be no other quick way to do this. Any other advice or user created item that allows control of the points, or at least has them show in the feature tree?
Is there an easy way in NX 7.5 to import points with X/Y coordinates that will be used to create holes? I saw an old post about importing points via creation of a spline, then deleting the spline. This seems a bit excessive, so I am looking for a more streamlined method. In Inventor, there is...
I don't see how this helps since I am trying to turn off the hidden lines by default in only the section cut views, not all views. Is there a way to set this specifically? Maybe I just don't see where to set specifics in the seed part?
Is there a way to default no hidden lines for section views only? I want hidden lines as the default for all other views. I could not find anything in the Customer Defaults or Preferences specifically for section views. This is for NX 7.5.
Thanks.
