There are tables available that show standard decays based on the initial material. However, it appears that you're uncomfortable doing this task. Perhaps you should talk to your supervisor about some of your concerns on how to go about this. If he's putting in a bid to do the calculation...
C8829,
I would read it that, if you have a longitudinal weld (Type A) that conforms to Joint Type 3, that it cannot be designed under the Section VIII, Division II, Part 4 "Design by Rules" rules.
It might be possible to do a design under Section VIII, Division II, Part 5 "Design by Analysis"...
Do we have the full story? How many gaps are there? Have you found the seal pushed all the way to one side before -- or to the top or bottom? If so, maybe you still need to talk to your manufacturer, because your design isn't giving you appropriate clearance.

I have some nominal experience and my reply is ... it depends.
How good a programmer are? (I'm not, it takes me a long time, with a lot of trial, but I occasionally used to like to do it.)
How much time do you have? (I have very little free time any more. I used to have some and I'd play...
umm, that's why the first formula requires iteration. you go back in and substitute your new value for ρ into the formula and recalculate it. You'll get another value ... and you plug it back in. Eventually your ρ's should converge close to a value that should match what you got by...
Brazil and other South American countries seem to rely on the ASME code, at least based on the posts I see on here.

A drawing might help, or a more thorough description. Is the inflatable seal only used when the vessel is unpressurized? What's used when the vessel is pressurized? There are quick opening connections that meet ASME, why not look into those.

There's really extensive coverage of this in NB-4331 Conformance to Section IX Requirements. It's more than I feel comfortable providing under fair use laws, and more than I feel comfortable with trying to synopsize. If you're supposed to be providing a component to NB standards, hopefully you...
I just realized that "SRU" is for a sulphur recovery unit. I really don't think that HTRI is designed for that, but you'd need to talk with someone at HTRI itself (www.HTRI.net) to find out as I don't own the program. There were a number of technical papers that came up when I googled SRU heat...
They are completely different versions and you would need to have both to successfully bid on both jobs.

I can't imagine that this isn't covered in your design specification. But in the off chance that it isn't, then seek clarification from the project managers. The last thing you want to do on a nuclear project is to make assumptions.

The word "design" has me nervous, especially when I saw the other forums where you posted your question. HTRI, a heat exchanger design software, is not really intended to do detail AMSE boiler calculations. Please get someone with more experience in boiler design involved.

Just to be clear, what does the initialization "MPPH" mean to you? What are its units? Why does the process engineer think you don't have to get rid of the horsepower term? Why are you equating the Bhp term in the 85 lb/Bhp/hr number as equal to hp? Also was it intended that 85 lb/Bhp/hr...

Now that all the pros and cons of blow and rotational molding have been discussed, is this one of those cases where 3-d printing would come in handy? Not that I know anything about it, but from what I've heard, it seems designed for parts like this.
