I have hidden lines defaulting to invisible. If the base view has them turned off then create the section, the section will have them off. if I turn them visible on the base view then create the section, the section view will have them visible.
I looked for a setting like that but didn't see...
Just installed NX 10.0.2 and I'm making sure I have all my settings correct. When I create a section view from a view that has hidden lines visible, the section view will inherit the hidden line settings (it will have hidden lines visible). NX 8.5 and 9 work fine (section views will not inherit...
Xwheelguy,
My situation was a little different than that. See attached image, the intersection circled in red is what I actually want to dimension to. If I didn't extend the profile beyond the part I would obviously be left with a little sliver that wouldn't get subtracted.

To be able to define what auto dimensions use as an origin, I am very often using the sketch origin as my "0".
I was asking because I didn't an area on the GTAC site for ERs, is that something I need to do over the phone?
Thanks
I was wondering if there is a way to force the auto dimensions while sketching to use the "Sketch Origin" instead of what seems to be the closest object?

It would be nice if the "plus" mark unpacked it instead of opening the assembly
Hello John,
That almost seems backwards to me. If I create a drawing using the "Reference Existing Part" option I can go back into the modeling application and see the 3D model. If I create the drawing using the "Stand-alone Part" option and go back to the modeling application, I can not see...
When creating a new drawing in NX you have the option to choose the "relationship", either "Reference Existing Part" or "Stand-alone Part". Can someone explain what the function difference is (if any) between these two options?
Thanks,
Nick
