Can anyone provide a node schematic for modeling an offline water quality unit with a splitter manhole or inlet?
Not having much luck getting my devices to work. I looked at the Hydrocad online manual on the topic but I am not grasping which nodes need to be inserted for the model.
Any help is...
I have had my license since September 2020, but this is the first time I tried to use Hydrocad to extract information from an Autocad File.
Unfortunately, I am getting an error
HydroCAD 10.10-4b s/n 09835
Error 185: Unable to open C:\Desktop\Drainage Map.dwg with AutoCAD 2021 in Hcad2020x64...
I guess I should look at the contributing drainage area and the size of the equalization pipe between the two basins then model both scenarios and go with the worse case.
I have had several incidents where a previous designer has provided equalization pipes connecting basins together. For modeling purposes I have always ignored these pipes and used the combined volumes of the basins in my stage storage data. Is this a valid approach or is there another way this...

I have a comment from a local reviewer indicating a preference for rational method in a small development site over the SCS method. While the SCS method is more suited for larger watersheds, we routinely use it for small sites because the state agencies...
Pennsylvania is contemplating requiring continuous modeling simulation for stormwater permitting. This is being advocated by Villanova University who is assisting in rewriting the stormwater management guidance document for PA DEP. Is hydro CAD looking to incorporate continuous modeling...
Also look at your point of interest in your analysis. Where is this site located within the watershed? If you look at the larger basin, you may be able to demonstrate that the increase in runoff will be negligible compared to the overall basin. Does this development drain to an existing...
Miningman, its Dolomite. The quarry is no longer in operation and the bench road to the dividing wall is no longer accessible or available. If you could get a drill rig on the dividing wall there maybe a possibility of blasting the rock, leaving the fractured rock in place then let the water...
Solid Rock (abandoned quarry), and 50 feet rock removal to equalize at 213 ft elevation. Moving about 50,000 CY. At $40/CY = $2 million. Access is limited to the bench to get drilling equipment for blasting.
My question is how do I show this won't work mathematically to rule this out as an...
Thanks for responding.
All elevations and lengths are in feet. The blue line is top of pipe, green original ground.
Ultimate head at end of discharge (213-173) 40 ft (12m). Head difference between bench and pit 2 final elevation (263-213) 50 ft(15m)
I provided an additional schematic to...
I am working on a project where we want to pump down a quarry for water supply during times of drought.
The quarry consists of two pits with a dividing wall. The quarry has limited access around the perimeter and we are trying to avoid having multiple large pumps in order to drain the second...
I recently had some experience preparing a report which addressed basements flooding out. We used Hydrocad to model the basement sump pumps. We determined that a basic sump alone would not address the basement flooding issue. You will find that during a rainfall event even in a small drainage...
****UPDATE***
I did try creating a TW file based on the above mentioned format but still no results.
What I did find was if I cut and pasted from an excel file with the three fields, HY toolbox accepted the data.
is there a way to enter a stream cross section into the channel analysis without manually defining in the cross section menu?
Import of TW file is referenced but no documentation is provided on HY 8 TW file format.
Any information is appreciated.
Peter,
Thanks for the additional background.
I was basing my volume on 1/2(a+b)x h x l (top length), where a and b are the bottom and top width.
My approximation is accordingly different.
I am finding conflicting results in calculating prismatic storage volumes in Hydro cad.
I have a basin which is 129 ft wide and 355 ft long with 3:1 side slopes. The basin depth is 4.83 ft. Based on these dimensions I would expect the total basin storage to be around 266,000 CF. When I enter the...
