I'm looking to source a replacement panel heater.
ATEX Exd IIC T5
250V
200W
readily available to the UK.
Preference is a single 200W heater but if I need to make the wattage from several heaters so be it. Our single phase voltage is healthy and well exceeds 230V.
Any ideas on...
Is this not the Exd Exde situation where a motor might be Exd but the associated terminal box is Exe. An Exd motor with an Exe terminal box would be Exde.
An Exd enclosure is certified specifying size, power within etc and this is difficult to do with the terminal enclosure hence the hybrid.
You can't up the IP rating from IP55 to IP56. The OEM went through a lot of pain getting the motor certified to IP55.
What you might have control over though is the environment. Are you able to construct barriers etc to shield the motor from high pressure jetting? It might be a cover over...
You say you have a 150kVA supply but don't give an impedance. So with a few assumptions in place I've got a fault current at the transformer of about 3500A. Travel even a short distance through the feeder cables and 3500A till drop quickly. I don't know what the fuses are but a BS88 takes 1...
On with some maintenance on an 11kV board.
Knowns - we know the utility supply cable is in poor state but that's their cables.
our incoming switch is out of the board.
The bushings have been examined and are as new.
Connections at the back are shrouded but appear good and have not been touched...
Thanks for the link. I am in the UK so HG230 and the HSE are very relevant. clearly any degreasing would need to be followed by application of the manufacturers lubricants / grease.
You say field switchgear. The impedance of the cabling between the transformer and the switchgear although likely minimal will cause the fault level to drop very quickly and likely to end up lower than your 25kA. Increasing the cable route length slightly might easily get you to where you want...
Has anyone got experience with the now defunct Terasaki AT25 ACB.
The breaker is on a 415V LV system and rated at 2500A. Nice cosy environment, never been used on a fault in anger, not very many operations and about 25 years old.
The auto close mechanism is in good condition but caked in OEMs...
Hope to be getting some more figures in a few days time.
I've managed to get a much larger snapshot of the winding temperatures and can prove this is cyclic so more relaxed with that.
The machine is coming off bars later this week so I can check values then.
this fault was first spotted a few months ago, I wasn't informed, the alarm reset so nothing actioned.
the alarm is coming in a more regularly now but appears to be a little heat related. When I'm talking heat I'm talking 20deg C air temp local to the machine.
the alarm still goes into reset...
because you may only use the cable to drive say a very large heater, a permanent installation, in the depth of winter. You have to be very sure if you are using the higher rating. As I said go for summer.
If you are drilling an Exe enclosure you must guarantee the hole is completely orthogonal to the side wall so when the gland is fitted all faces touch uniformly. Best way to do this would be to use a pedestal drill. Any penetrations must be in accordance with the manufacturers guidance and...
Ask yourself is the cable going to be used in the summer, if yes then all of your winter settings have gone.
Is is connected to a single device such as large motor that gets used once every blue moon. I'm guessing you can't guarantee that.
Go for summer sustained and sleep peacefully in your bed!
I really can't see this working.
If you can't get a VSD you might try a soft start.
Its usual to put a bypass around the soft start once it has done its job to cut losses.
I've seen largish LV pumps on a 415V system but the motors were specials and had resistance starters on them.
Swapping...
Hi
I've got an 11kV generator which is delivering just over 2MW.
Over the last 6 weeks the exciter current has started to climb and gone from the expected of 1.5A to 2.5A.
The winding temps have also increased by 15 to 20degC from the expected mid 60degC and is now fluctuating between 60 and...
