Thanks All.
MJCronin - not too many in our neck of the woods. We are one of two in my local area. Then there's the awkwardness of phoning up your competitor...lol
I am going to talk to our AI about this, and get their take. It started from an internal discussion between myself (QMgr) and our...
Hi everyone,
Hoping to get some feedback on nameplate design as it applies to multi-chamber vessels, when one of the vessels is non-Code (ie. under 15 psi).
We have an ASME CoA for U/U2 work, and one of our registered designs (hey, we're in Canada) is for a 50 psi jacket that we use in steam...
I agree with David, we use old CRNs all the time. As long as you can provide some evidence that you've reviewed the design used in the CRN application against the code in force at the time of fabrication, and that the design tied to the CRN won't need to change, you should be fine.
You're correct in that it has been removed from the requirements. From what I understand, the rationale was that the 'W' would be understood upon first glance at the vessel.
My local inspector commented that it was interesting that ASME didn't introduce a grace period similar to the...
Update Aug 6th - ASME has fixed the bug in my travel tab, so our recertification application is off and running. All in all, that took about 3 weeks to correct.
wwwi - Interesting, my issue(s) are with the travel tab as well. I have not yet heard back.
I would suggest sending Matt Vazquez an email (as TSG4 provided above) and let him know of your situation. He gave me assurances that if we had to push out our recert joint review and needed an extension...
Thanks TGS4!
I talked to someone on the phone this morning who was very helpful, and I'm certainly not blaming them (changes of this magnitude suck - for all concerned). I have submitted a couple of change requests relating to my application, so I will send those details to Matt.
Cheers
Sean
Does anyone happen to know when the next ASME B31 revision is planned? Particularly B31.3. We are interested in adding this to our U stamp for PVs and I'm curious what the revision timeline is like for this one when compared/added to the BPVC.
Thanks
Sean
Anyone else currently fighting with ASME's new CA Connect portal? We had a recertification application open and underway (but not submitted) when they upgraded their website, and since they've gone back live with the new portal my application is a mess. Several bugs found, no response from ASME...
Angela,
I work for a brewery equipment manufacturer, and yes we build tanks to the ASME code when they are rated greater than 15 psi. Ordinarily, the tanks are exempt but occasionally a customer will ask for a 2 or 3 bar tank (typically a bright tank). Greater pressure = faster carbonation, or...
Later day update: OK, I've read a bit more into this (ie. UG-14 and code case 2156-1) and we are looking to use SA-213 as available. Thanks metengr for the reply.
Good morning everyone,
We are an Sec VIII Div I certified PV shop looking to quote/build a small (10L) PV for a cryogenic CO2 application. We are investigating the use of seamless tube/hollow round bar (ASTM A511) for this purpose, but there is no corresponding ASME SA specification, which is...
