Dear all,
I am simulating the point load on top aluminium heads. I have assigned surface-to-surface interaction between the bearing plate and the TOP Hat. Because the model is very complex, I am using dynamic explicit model. It is giving me an error of excessive deformations.
What possible...
The plate is fixed on the edge, and it represents the same support condition as in the experiment
The projectile is a deformable body with rigid body constraint
Load is applied as velocity to the reference point of projectile
Pice-wise linear plasticity model (Elasto plastic model)

Dear all
I am doing timber impact on the aluminum plates. My numerical and experimental curves have some lag.
Can you please advise, on how can I improve the model?
Picture is attached
Dear All,
I am simulating the Impact test as shown in the Figure.
I want to get the acceleration of the projectile after impact.
There are 2 ways of doing that. Which one seems to be correct?
1. I get the acceleration of the central model at the surface of the projectile
2. I Find the...
I have validated 5 different studies already published in the literature with this model. It works well for other studies. One possible reason can be I am looking at the wrong output from the model.
Dear all,
I am dropping a projectile of 4 kg m with a velocity of 1.41 m/sec on an aluminum plate. The acceleration/deceleration I get from the Numerical model is 160g and from the Experiment is 3 gs. Can any one advise please what can be the issue?
Thanks for your response
I am uploading the cae file if you can help me, please

Dear all
I am doing 4 points bending test in Abaqus. After achieving some results, it's aborted.
The results obtained for the simulated part show close agreement
I have tried different mesh sizes, interactions but all in vain
Dear All,
I am simulating a 4-Point bending test and I got the following error.
Error in job Small: Time increment required is less than the minimum specified
Error in job Small: THE ANALYSIS HAS BEEN TERMINATED DUE TO PREVIOUS ERRORS. ALL OUTPUT REQUESTS HAVE BEEN WRITTEN FOR THE LAST...
I am using general body contact. No Tie constraint.
That issue was resolved by adjusting mesh sizes.
Now I have got another error.
The time increment required is less than the minimum specified
Error in job Small: THE ANALYSIS HAS BEEN TERMINATED DUE TO PREVIOUS ERRORS. ALL OUTPUT REQUESTS...
Dear all,
I am simulating 4-points bending on extruded panels.
I came across an error that "Normal cannot be completed in 4 elements".
Can you please advise how to fix this?
@FEA and NRP
Thank you very much for your response.
I am using velocity to the projectile and comparing from the point of impact. The difference of time period is almost 10 times.
