These are the published ratings for allowable stress. You can increase these values based on how many cycles pin rotates under load. I believe there are published values in one of the AGMA standards what stress level you can increased to depending on numer of...

Of course the action is not as smooth. Now you taking away from the contact ratio. All I am saying to you is, if you have a negative shift on the planet you will have loss in stregtn as the planet is always in reverse bending. You are correct in saying the timing is not proper on all the...
I think you know from reading above posts that sumof teeth is divisibale by 3 in case of three planets. What I think you are reffering to profile shift. Usually in planetary planet has a negative shift, because it is in double bending.Look at the link example. http://www.gearsandbearings.com
In spline calculation, it is shown in standards what is called a K value. First you calculate the nominal value of spline between pins and then multiply k with the tolerance value. Subtract and add these values to your nominal value to calculate min and mas value...
Usually the rule of thumb is 6:1. If you go above this, pinion gets so small, it might be hard to manufacture or will have little strength. So, try to keep below 6:1 and you will be ok. http://www.gearsandbearings.com
Splines usually have a side fit, major dia fit, root fillet fit etc. No matter what you have, if it is a interference fit, you could freeze the shaft. Use Liquid Nitogen to freeze the shaft. This way you will not ruin the geometry of the shaft. But be careful, not to overfreeze the shaft.
We do...
Stainless steel is good for these application specially for close to ocean. But, you should realize, stainless steel is not as strong. You could use galvanized coating to prevent it from rust. But the coating shoud adhere to shaft good. Any time it peels off you will have problems. I work for...
You could use 9310H, aircraft quality steel grade 2. It has excellent properties. When carburized to Rc 60-65, and groung, depecits very good strength properties which you need. Also keep in mind, if gear is in revers bending you need to use 80% of the stress.

Thrust force on the worm is tangential force on gear. And tangential force on worm is thrust on gear. So large axial thrust on worm will be large tangential force on gear and vice versa.

Really it depends how far the contact is. I do not think you need to go past the last thread. We do flame hardeh out worms. We just harden to the threads unless applications call for more strength in different part of the worm.

7305 is a angular contact bearing. The more the angle is, more thrust they can take. But to answer your question, it will take thrust. Wobble which you are talking about, may be it is a clearance issue. Each bearing has a clearance depending on class. http://www.bearingsandgears.com
To answer your question first if there is a difference in 2001 c95 or 218. In my opinion 218 still works good. 2001 goes little bit more in detail and the accuracy you get with that is not enough to justify spending that much time in it. Concentration factors which you are asking for, I will not...
Dudley's gear handbook suggests backlash typically for general machine practice. Genrally it boils down to .015/dp to .040/dp. But if you need really quiet gears your backlash needs to be less than above values. As I said if you are designing gears for normal practice above values will work...

you can backdrive helical gears provided the helix angle is not small. Say less than 8 degrees for static driving and less than 3 degrees for dynamic driving. Now, when you say crossed helical gears, you got to be careful what the shaft angle is. In one case they need to be same hand...
gearcutter, the equation I have given is the theoretical center distance between two meshing gears. If addendum of one is increased and addendum of other is decreased, you need to adjust that. You can always have gears run at increased center distance with operating pitch diameters other than...
Center distance between two gears is calculated as
(Z1+z2/(pd*cos(y)*2)
where z1 and z2 are no. of teeth
pd is diametral pitch
cos(y) is cosine of helix angle.

Generally for a true planetary, you need twice the no. of teeth in plane plus sun teeth equals ring teeth. In you case it will be 2*22+14=58 teeth in ring gear. Ratio is 1+Nr/Ns=1+58/14=1+4.143=5.143
Hope this helps.

The system becomes more rigid. This is true. That is the only purpose to use spacer. Of coures, when system gets rigid and stiffer, bearing life shortens but on the other hand system is more accurate.

Preloaded bearing do work to eliminate excessive vibration, clearances and increaases the stiffness of the system. But on the other hand it shortens the life of a bearing and also depending upon how much is preload, it could create lot of heat which of course is detrimental for the system. so...
