    Thermal Mapping in Ansys Mechanical

what program are you exporting data from? the mapping is dependent on the settings in ansys and how you define the imported data in ansys. it could be a text file with location of nodes, relative to a local coordinate axis, and corresponding solution data. you can then assign the data to a...

    time history analysis

i would suggest reading about transient analysis in the documentation and then look for examples in the verification manual. you can get the code from the files they provide. run some very simple models first and create a procedure. Just a sample: 1. create or import geometry 2. select an...

Calculate electrical resistance - thermal transient modelling

does your license allow you to do a coupled thermal-electric analysis? i use thermal-electric analysis all the time to compare lead-acid battery grids. if you have a mechanical license, you have access to the thermal-electric analysis system. it may give you what you are looking for.

Apply loads/BC's on sketched areas instead of faces/points/edges/bodie

try extruding a surface from the sketch such that it is orthogonal to and intersects where you want the split face. i believe you can "freeze" the surface body and use it to create the split face.

How to model a 6dofs spring-mass system in one two node model?

could you possibly use a general joint element? Like this one? http://www.kxcad.net/ansys/ANSYS/ansyshelp/Hlp_E_MPC184gen.html

    ANSYS Winding tool

i'm sure this document is sorta dated, but it may help. http://www.kxcad.net/ansys/ANSYS/workbench/dm_windingtool.html

ANSYS 13 Workbench, change default coordinate system

would re-mapping the keys work as well? i believe you can set shortcut keys in the workbench options.

restless - where to go and what to do

@ Twoballcane I never have presented my work, other than just internal reports. This week I plan on having a peer discussion about the ansys model for evaluating plastic designs using contact debonding w/ fracture energies/toughness. Later i'll probably look at generalizing it and apply it to...

ANSYS for Biomechanics of Knee Joints

i'm assuming this is point cloud data. not sure what your CAD/CAE capabilities are... this is what i would do. 1. Use Meshlab (free) or Solidworks (not free) to process the point cloud data. 2. Output to a format that Ansys can read 3D data from. - Workpoints, Surfaces, Solids 3. Add...

restless - where to go and what to do

@Twoballcane i've actually been validating test data and astm specifications to determine a good material model fit for non-linear materials for some time. for the past few years i've assigned myself the task of increasing our "virtual prototyping" capability by comparing models to physical...

TXT File to Ansys Workbench 13

what is the format, syntax, code, etc. of the MOD file? where did this file come from? what I want to know is if the file contents are able to translate to APDL?

    shot peening process using ANSYS

start with tutorials and validation in the ansys help on transient structural. consider the explicit dynamics solver. look at the documentation and consider your specific needs/requirements as you build knowledge of the software. read, read, read, experiment, google, etc.

Run design optimization on a CAD imported model

all of this will depend on your licensing. Option 1: Recreate the geometry using the APDL interface and modeler. Assign parameters to the variables. http://www.mece.ualberta.ca/tutorials/ansys/AT/Optimization/Optimization.html Option 2: Use Workbench with DesignModeler Option 3: Use Workbench...

TXT File to Ansys Workbench 13

need more info... yes and no? depends? Workbench is designed as a front end for Mechanical APDL, so what you are asking to do is kinda backwards from it's intention. You can setup a partial model in Workbench, export it's APDL code and then modify it. It's also possible you could use command...

restless - where to go and what to do

i love engineering AND physics. what i mean by vanilla is boring, complacent and lacking passion. i think what i mainly want to do is engineering analysis independently. (someday) Solidworks APDL Coding (Ansys) Alloy and Plastic Parts Design Seal Design Assemblies Machine Design Mechanics...
