    Old Piping codes

If you all remember, I originally asked if anyone knew where I could find a copy of the old code, then I got a lot of answers concerning if this was the correct approach. I subsequently sent off the question to the NCIB for their interpretation of my customers request to be sure it was the...

    Old Piping codes

Once again lets reiterate: this is per 2004 NBIC (National Board Inspection Code) An American National Standard - ANSI/NB-23 Recognized Internationally. The reason to do this investigation is to be sure we are doing things lawfully and in the way accepted and mandatory to satisfy the national...

    Old Piping codes

You made me look! NBIC 2004 - Part RC – RC-3022 Re-rating states: a. Revise calculations verifying the new service conditions shall be prepared... b. All re-rating shall be established in accordance with the requirements of the construction standard to which the pressure-retaining item was...

    Old Piping codes

Actually with a pressure/temperature of 425/600 their specs show that they used A53 Grade B. Nothing 'exotic' like chrome/moly at that temperature. I just want to be sure to use the originally published allowable.

    Old Piping codes

Does anyone out there know where I can access a 1960 B31.1 Power Piping Code? I have a customer who is interested in raising the temperature of some existing boiler piping and I want to rerate the piping and do a stress analysis of the existing system. Since the boiler was installed in 1960...

Pipe design - metric vs NPT

I'm about to get involved in doing piping design for a German customer. Am I correct in assuming that the DN nominal pipe sizes (e.g. 100 sch 40 is the same as 4" sch 40 NPT) are the same as we use in the US? If that's true why are the pipe flanges different?

    B31.1 section 122.1.7 Valves

Section 122.1.7 of the B31.1 Power Piping Code under Para.(A)Steam Stop Valves (A1)states- Boiler stop valves shall provide bidirectional shutoff at design conditions. That's pretty clear to me - all BEP steam valves should provide shutoff in both directions. However-does the description...

    SA material vs A material

What is the difference in using say SA335 VS A335. Is there differnt documentation? I always thought the material and stress values were the same. I've been told that ASME Section 1 requires SA material to be specified rather than A material

Min Wall pipe bevel "C" Dimension

Thanks Meteng, I'm looking at the ASME B16.25-1997 version and Section 4 only has one equation. Are you looking at a later edition that shows eq.1 & eq.2 you have shown.

Min Wall pipe bevel "C" Dimension

When calculating the "C" dim using B16.25 it talks about nominal pipe only and the formula listed is C=A-.031-1.75t-.01(in.). However, I have found that PFI also gives the same formula for nominal pipe but has also given a formula for min. wall pipe (A335, A106,A312) as C-A-.041-2tm (in.) This...

    plot hollow text

When I use a bold or thick/large font it appears filled in on the paper and model space, but prints out hollow. Only a thin line, that out-lines the text. I have tried uninstalling AutoCAD and reinstall, however I was unsuccessful. Any Suggestions?
