Thumbnail icons in windows explorer default to generic thumbnails?

No that was still checked to show thumbnails.... So I'm baffled why it's not showing the thumbnails... Though in all honesty I should turn it off anyway as it does really slow opening folders with allot of SW files when the thumbnails are shown...but it makes finding the files so much easier...

Thumbnail icons in windows explorer default to generic thumbnails?

Hey...just finally upgraded from 2007 to 2009.. The one thing that I notice not entirely related to Solidworks is that all the solid works files no longer have a thumbnail image of the part/assy/drw anymore...it's just a generic Solidworks icon representing either of the three...has anyone else...

Insert Images onto a plane - 2d projected view

Thanks you so much... That, "Sketch Picture", is the command I was looking for... Again Thanks for your help...

Insert Images onto a plane - 2d projected view

Is there a way to create a plane and insert an image onto it...the very same that you would do in Alias to generate 3D surfaces from 2D prints... I ask this because I want to to some free-form surfaces and I will insert Front/Top/side views of the object, to be specific a car, and model the...

Suppressing feature from transfering to a mirrored part.

Okay..that was super easy to do...worked like a charm

Suppressing feature from transfering to a mirrored part.

Thanks...I'll look into that...I've never really created a new config...so I'll play around with it till I get it... Again Thanks

Suppressing feature from transfering to a mirrored part.

Well...after looking at it a bit...I though I would just create an boss feature to fill in the logo on the mirrored part and then just redo the logo from there...I get the same results, but if anyone know how to remove a feature from getting mirrored without suppressing it...that would be great...

Suppressing feature from transfering to a mirrored part.

I've been searching for a way to suppress a feature, so when you use: INSERT >> MIRROR PART about a plane it leaves the feature in the parent part but does not transfer it to the mirrored part. We engrave our logo into the part and unfortunately our logo is not symmetrical...so as it stands...

Mirrored part with errors on features

okay...I'm wondering if it's just me or if others are experiencing the same thing... When I have a part that has a left and right side...I create one of them and then just mirror the part to create the other half...everything works fine with the exception of tapped holes...they transfer over...

    Match Chemical analysis to Material....

TVP, I did Tensile, composition as well as harness... Now I didn't have them polish and etch the part to see what structure the grains are...and now that you mention that, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have that done... But for the harness I wanted to know where and how deep the...

    Match Chemical analysis to Material....

I use matweb quite a bit...but their search based on composition doesn't work all that well...you have to hunt and peck abit.... but they do have a great resource if you do know what you want....

    Match Chemical analysis to Material....

Fantastic...that's exactly what I was looking at doing...using 4340 in a normalized state for easy machining and then induction harden the high stress area to increase the outer surface strength for the max compressive/tensile loads... I had looked at even 300M, but that was getting to be cost...

    Match Chemical analysis to Material....

I'm assuming the closest US spec is 4140....though the Cr is a bit lower and there is no Ni in 4140. But this is the closest I see.... Also going to 4340, assuming 4140 is the best US match, the nickel content should improve fatigue strength, is that right? Though 4340 normalized has a Rc of...

    Match Chemical analysis to Material....

Hello, I sent out a sample of material to determine it's properties and chemical composition in the hope of narrowing down the material... Unfortunately the metallurgist cannot specify a material for this part as it's a non US spec material... Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can go...

Typical Force on front LBJ Stud...

Thanks Bob... I was a bit curious how the drilled holes affected the measured strain...but I see you what you did now... Let me ask you this...did you have to drill the studs, because you found the strain gages were not providing any information so you drilled them out for concentration...

Typical Force on front LBJ Stud...

haha...I figured there was some type of confusion....a picture is worth a thousand words...then there would have been no confusion... The comments referring to 3/4" was for the spherical bearing that I am replacing the ball joint with, but for rod ends and spherical bearings they are sized by...

Typical Force on front LBJ Stud...

Greg, Aurora P/N HAB-12T it's page 61 of their catalog... I figured we are not talking about the same thing....I'm not sure where you got 3/4"dia and 5/8 thread combined, because there is no such thing... a size 12(3/4") would at min. have 3/4 threads or the heavy duty ones would have 7/8...

Typical Force on front LBJ Stud...

The 3/4" bearing has a static load rating of 53,770lbs and Aurora will tell you this is suitable for dynamic loads of 13,443 lbs, way more than needed. Like I mentioned taking the original Ball joint stud and running calculations on it with the taper constrained and applying a load on the...

Typical Force on front LBJ Stud...

I guess in my thinking...I look it as SF as under normal use...the lateral loads are not going to be as high at 3G as the tires will slip well before you see 3g and the same for longitudinal of 4G's...so I have always looked at as SF's, for those instance of impact loads...obviously not smashing...

Typical Force on front LBJ Stud...

I use Aurora already...but they are just rod ends and spherical bearings...but as a matter of fact...I am using their .75" spherical bearing for this application staked into my own housing...but what is hanging me up is the stress on the attached bolt...that is where my concern is... What I'm...
