That works too Anna. I just hate to add entities to a sketch that arent needed. Plus if you later forget why that point is there and then delete it, then the mate will go bad. If you rotate the model just right, then usually you can select them. Maybe I should report this to my VAR? I think...
Well I just went to do a problem capture. It looks like this problem for me is only on centerlines and arc centers. Either way you can see in the video that the dynamic highlight doesnt work until the mouse is over the part and the sketch. Oh yeah, there are no selection filters turned...
I have this problem alot. The trick is to rotate the assembly so that the sketch you want to select has the part it is from behind it. You will then be able to select the sketch over top of the part. I dont know why Solidworks does this. You will notice that you can select the sketch over...
I have the exact same problem with my "Logitech Cordless Click Plus!"
I have the latest drivers.
I think it is a SW problem, because I dont have any other programs that do this.
I usually run in to this problem when trying to draw a three point arc. If I click for the first point, and then...
When I am putting shock absorbers in my assemblies, I always make them into two subassemblies. One subassembly is the top half, and the other is the bottom half. I then mate them both in the main assembly to their mounting holes, and then mate them concentric to eachother. Lastly, I add a...
I had the same problem right after I installed 2007 for the first time. Our VAR said to reset the registry, and it did not help. I had to reinstall SW two hours after the initial install
Mastercam 9.1 doesnt do well when importing Solidworks assemblies. For one thing, It places one part on every level, and doesnt give it a name. Then when you try to consolidate a bunch of tooling to one level, it shows that there is entities still on the other levels. I have found that it is...
I do not use Mastercam X, I use 9.1. I tested X, and it was very unstable and I have since stopped paying for subscription service. X is not an option.
CorBlimeyLimey I think what you are saying is to place the coordinate system in the part using edit part in the assembly. That sounds like a...
It would almost be like a "snap to" thing. I could see it being another option in there with the limit mate options that said "snap to increment". I think it is a good idea, and can think of times I would use this when making fishing reels that I spin.
My job requires me to save a lot of Parasolids from Solidworks for import into Mastercam. I usually have an assembly and want to save one part from the assembly as a Parasolid with a specific coordinate system. Right now my process is as follows
right click part
select isolate
name and save...
Do not download 3.3 if you use BOMS's!!!
The option in configuration properties to choose if the file name or the configuration name is used in the BOM is gone.
Also, "exclude from BOM" is missing from the component properties in an assembly.
Had there been an EV release I would have caught this
I have the same problems with my computer.
1. Dimensions disappear when trying to place them
2. Hot keys stop working
Shutting down and reopening SW fixes the problem

Regarding moving parts, I recived this from 3dconnexion
Eric,
I have done some research regarding your comments about not being able to zoom while in “sub-part movement” mode. Here is what I found…
In SolidWorks, a limitation exists in the application API. In April 2002...
