    Class 4 ROV torque tools

My very limited experience with a tool, the torque can be controlled very accurately and the operator would have to try and spike the torque over the set point. On the system I saw, the operator would set a torque limit, and then control the fluid flow and pressure to the tool to control it...

    FASTENERS FOR PED APPLICATION

You may need to go to Europe to find them. We supply flange bolting to the oil & gas industry with 3.1b certification and buy mostly from Tripplefast in the UK and OME out of Italy. I also have some M8x45 socket head cap screws in F55 on my desk if you are interested ;-) (client decided that...

    F316L in ANSI 2500 Valves.

My clients will request all 316 class materials to be 'dual certified' meaning that they meet the higher mechanical requirements of 316, but have the lower carbon content of the 316L. Material grade on the certs is usually listed as 316/316L. I believe NORSOK MDS S01 has this requirement as...

Reduced vs Full Port Ball Valve Class 600

Another issue with large SF is that you will often come up against the MAST of the valve. My client's specs will usually only allow me to go to 90% of MAST. One client also needs 2x SF at all points of the torque curve, which on a 150# valve can lead to a SF of 6 or even more at the break...

Typical time duration from closed to open?

JLSeagull is right, Anywhere between 1-2 seconds per inch of pipe diameter works pretty well for two reasons: 1) generally slow enough to prevent water hammer in system 2) can usually be supplied with reasonably sized control circuits and solenoids. Andy

    Explosive Decompression of O-Rings

Steve, Many thanks. This is what I was looking for! Pressure greater than than 35 bar, section greater than or equal to 5.35mm. Andy

    Explosive Decompression of O-Rings

I have a client asking about the AED resistance of an O-Ring in a 4" 150" Ball Valve (client is conservative Supermajor). Everything I have ever seen on ED is that it only affects valves in high pressure gas service, and I have as a general rule only been concerned with it in valves over 600#...

Manufacturer of DN50, PN40 trunnion mounted Ball Valves ?

I also use R. P. Valves in the UK - they also might have in stock. Italian will not be fast (16 week minimum (and considering it is only 16 weeks or so until their August shutdown, count on longer)). But, good quality, well documented product. Andy

Manufacturer of DN50, PN40 trunnion mounted Ball Valves ?

As far as I know Mokveld don't do ball valves... Couple Italian suppliers I use: www.pibiviesse.it www.abvvalves.com If you need faster... www.mwvalves.com Andy

    Stub ACME Thread Form Limits

By defination the stub ACME thread form has an included 29 degree angle. Does anyone have any experience in rounding slightly the upper crests of the thread to break the resulting shart corner? How much rounding can you do and still conform to the standard? Have male thread in F51 running...

Material strength : SS316 for class 2500 valves

What kind of valve are you designing? For ball valves at these pressures, I haven't noticed any problems with face to face. Andy

Material strength : SS316 for class 2500 valves

In the offshore market for ANSI 2500# and API 10,000#, I've used a number of materials. Good options for strenght vs. weight seems to be 6Mo material (ANSI A182-F44). Also the Duplex and Super duplex grades of stainlees steel (F51 & F53/F55) are also common. I have also used A350-LF2 with an...

Electroles Nickel Plating Is it prohibitted in H2S service

Manufacturer's that I have used do this to: 1) improve the surface finish of the stem (better sealing and increased seal life) 2) increase the surface hardness of the stem to minimize the potential for galling with other like materials in the gland or ball. I've had this coating in NACE...

    GBV Ball Valves Anyone?

I have a full cross sectional drawing of the existing valve, with face to face and hub details, so there is no problem to replace the valve with an alternate manufacturer. The real problem is that it takes the client 6 months to approve the change out of the manufacturer of a valve, so if I...

    Butterfly valve leaks over time

He might also gain if he went to a double offset or tripple offset valve. Tripple might be a bit of overkill, but I doubt the plastic valve he has has any offsets at all. You also might want to look at a ball valve for the application too if space is available. If you are not using the valve...

    Sub-Sea Hydraulic Actuator

The Dantorque's are beautiful compact actuators, but tend to be on the pricy side. I don't know how the helical spline would hold-up for extended modulating service. This would be a very expensive part to replace if you had too. Best to talk to your local rep for more specific info. However...

Gate Valve - reverse acting, why?

I would think that in a situation of a dirty service this would be good as the pocket below the gate would be 'full' of the gate in the open and flowing condition. Because of this, the pocket would not be subject to filling up with debris that could cause the valve from fully closing. Andy

    Actuator side loading.

Design an external support for the actuator so that its weight is not transmitted to the valve. Ugly, but better than having a valve stick. Andy

    GBV Ball Valves Anyone?

I have a client looking for spares for a 3/4" 2500# GBV Ball Valve. These are not Watts. I can't find any info on these guys on the web, and was hoping someone might know where to find them. Any help would be appreciated.
