Rack & pinion-mechanism set up steps

There is a very good tutorial here: http://www.ptc.com/cs/cs_26/howto/apm11683/apm11683.htm The pinion is the cylindrical rotating item and needs to be assembled with a pin joint, the rack is the straight component and needs to be assembled with a slider. This rack/pinion gear connection should...

    Compressor with DMX

I presume that you are trying to simulate the gear mechanism. If so then the Mechanisms Central Resource page on ptc.com should help: http://www.ptc.com/cs/cs_25/howto/apm11083/apm11083.html Various gear examples: http://www.ptc.com/cs/cs_26/howto/apm11683/apm11683.htm

    Family Tables

I use this method with top down design, where I want to create different family table instances of an assembly which uses a skeleton part to drive the components in the assembly. For Example, I want to design a square box with a lid, and have different size instances of the box and lid. I have...

sheetmetal wall to funny angle - rectangular transition

Rather than making a small flange wall on the sloping side of the trapezium, make a full wall like the one opposite, and then cut it back to produce the flange.

    Hole table question

You need a drawing view flat onto the holes, and a co-ordinate system in that view with its z-axis normal to that view.

    Combo state drawing views

Ed, I've tried setting up a combined state with shading and HLR on different components, and using that state in a drawing view, and it doesn't seem to work. I think this is a bug. John

    Drawing Format

An alternative technique which gets around having no model, or if the model doesn't have the parameter: Insert a table with a repeat region in the box in the format to contain the parameter (i.e. DESCRIPTION). Enter the report symbol: mdl-param-value Now add a filter to the repeat region...
