    Back-Fill

Hi, A simple question for people, who have experience in construction. I am a Jr. engg in a consulting firm but don't come across normally the practical aspect of my work. So, I wanted to clarify one point here. When a grounding grid is designed, Can there be a consideration about filling the...

    Barge

Hi Could you advise, where I can find used barges for sale. Any web info would be appreciated. Thanks

    Arc Resistant

Could you kindly advise me , what does arc flash diversion means and what is your suggestion as an engineer as to what one should opt for?

    Arc Resistant

Hi We are asked to give a third party opinion as a consulting engineerg in terms of buying a Arc resistant or Arc arrestor 5KV switchgear. I beleive Arc Arrestor is not the right world, It should be Arc illuminator, I think it is a technology patented by ABB. I am a small fish so don't have...

    Parallel Operation

What I meant was, if we are doing the same thing today like feeding an MCC and HVAC aux. with a 4.16KV/600 V transformer,we would not ground the sec. with a high resistance. So, the advantrages we could have with a High res. secondary neutral, how do we acheive that now. Thanks

    Parallel Operation

Thanks Dendel, Just a quick question on your comment, delta systems are ungrounded these days also. If this was done in old days, how do we counteract this situation these days. I would appreciate a comment. Thanks

    Parallel Operation

Hi thanks for earlier responses. I was looking at a SLG done 10 yrs ago and the guy had a 4.16 KV/600 V delta/STAR 2000 KVA transformer feeding an MCC and some HVAC auxiliaries. The guy had the trasnsformer high resistance grounded. Why would somebody ground a 600 V 3 ph transformer high...

    Source Impedance

Jghrist, "A high source impedance results in higher voltage harmonic distortion because harmonic currents are produced by non-linear loads" If this is correct, why increasing the source impedance by using reactors is considered one of the solutions for reducing harmonics. Does that measn we are...

    Parallel Operation

Thanks Waross, Here is my question. I was looking for your thread as that gives a lot of info about transformers and in regard to errors , people who know only they make mistakes. The idea of this question is to get the concept and I found many things I could not understand so I will ask in...

    Parallel Operation

Hi, Could you kindly advise me about the thread, which had a very long discussion about the transformer connections by WAROSS and lot of other people contributed. Thanks

    Notation

Thanks everybody, Jghrist has the right answer.

    Notation

At a different place in the single line diagram, same things is written as 2X240 mm2 Feeders from bus 4800. It is a three phase system. You still say it means two conductors. How can we have two condutors, that technically does not mean any thing. I hope I am correct this time. Thanks
  15. satnam123

    Notation

SO, I presume that means I have two feeders with three conductor each. In more simple terms, two power feeds. Am I correct? Thanks
  16. satnam123

    Notation

Hi Very simple question but got me confused, when it is written like thus 2X240 mm2 feeders from surface Does this mean, two feeders with each feeder having an individual conductor diameter of 240 mm2. Please advise, how these notations work. Thanks

Shunt Capacitor Bank Modeling: short-circuit/breaker-rating studies

Waross, I have already a question here on site but could not help asking one more here. Please excuse my inquisitiveness. In your post, "The main breaker still sees only the system fault current, but breaker "A" sees the total fault current." I beleive what you are saying is that if there is a 3...

    Control

Waross, I agree with your answer. That measns for me to porceed I should ask the manf. about the wiring of the burner housing. The temp. here relates to burner housing. But there is no control from manf. as according to him the temp. never goes this much high if installed as per CSA...

    Control

Thanks for u r feedback. The situation is One detector will be inside and the other will be outside. The insider temp when will go 150 F besides the burnes it should go off and when outside becomes -10 then it should kick in. So that is what I want to figure out how an instrumentation guy will...

    Control

Hi I am not sure if this is the right question for this forum but you guys might have some experience. The mechanical guys asked me for a solution, here is the situation. There is a mining chute http://texasgypsy.com/Scan/Mo/images/chute_for_mining.jpg you can see how it looks at the link...
