Well that does seem to work even though the solid and line defaults where different colors in the default settings. I changed the defaults while in the modeling session and that accomplished what I wanted. I think a modeling default color for threads would be helpful. They thought of it in...
Can (how) you change the dashed line color representing the i.d. of a threaded hole in modeling. Now it is the same as the bodly color which is very difficult to see. Much like you can change the color in drafting. ??

NX8.0
I also have this occure with .x_t files. usually the body does not form a complete solid. i get aruond the issue by setting the translucensy to a very low amount say 1-2 %. the back of the surfaces usually will show at this point. Not perfect but effective work around.
Chris nx7.5
First, running windows 7 and NX7.5.2.5.
After installing windows 7 upgrade the information windows on NX fail to show. Examples are in cam when posting ..List output fails to open text window. In cad measure ..show information window.. fails to open the window. I can not tell if this is a...
When opening an NX 7.5 file I can not get the preview of the file to show. All that is present is the Siemens nx std icon. All other files show the file content (solide works--acad--ect). What am I missing..NX or operating system??

John,
Thanks I knew there was a simple toggle just could not find where it was. As for the vs I can not quite tell. The print was made in 1968 (cadd and hand drawn) and has been white washed thru vs nx6 before I recieved it. Last time I saw a print like this one was at McDonnel Dougles back in...
How do I eliminate the on screen lables for each line,arc,spline,ect... from being displayed on the screen next to the item it references?? I am working on a model from an early vs. of unigraphics and can not find how to turn off the lables. Using nx 7.5
John,
If you look at the model, the 3d model is done in modeling with a sketch. I then placed a drawing sketch which over laps the 3d model to show the problem I am having. We use drafting sketches to add mfg data that is not part of the 3d part. I would think the sketch created in the drafting...
John,
I have attached a very simple example of what my problem is. You can see from the file, the dimensions referencing the scketch are not scaled to the view while the dimensions referencing only the model are scaled to the actual size in the 3d.
thoughts...
When creating dimensions in a scaled drafting view is there a way to contol how the scale is applied to sketches within the view. I have attached a tiff on one case in point. A dimension is created from 3d geometery that is 2.9450. A sketch circle is created over the same spline in the 3d model...
I have had the same problem since NX 6.0. The buttons will respond to system commands but not NX. New drivers and NX 7.0/7.5 did not solve this problem. The buttons work in Alibre and Solidworks on the same computer so I have to think it is unique to NX.

Always have a problem with seeing the manufacturing axis. Well no longer. John thanks for the great tip. Not that old but eyes sure can use all the help they can get.

We for one use this funtionality all the time. One area we find it very useful is adding mfg data to our parts. An example would be adding pin geometey to the drawing for the toolmakers to grind angled surfaced into position. An other example is a punch defined in 3d space. We add 2d geometery...
This just seems like a lot of extra work for some simple
machined forms. We have 10-15 of these types of parts a day and run once then never again so every time we add mfg solids it really slows the designers down. We need the cutouts and holes for down stream drilling and wedm (which is a mess...
Thank you for the input. You all verified what I thought.
I will have to create simple solids to close the area up. I was hoping for a feature like in Ideas of just ingnoring the unwanted areas.

When milling a u channel (any cavity) that has holes thru the bottom or cutouts on the side walls, is it possible to
have the cutter path ignore these features with out hiding the feature or creating a new mfg solid?? As an old Ideas user we had the option of ignoring surfaces when milling. We...
