open delta generally used in high impedance grounding system or ungrounded system.
Is it just Y-Y PT or earthed through neutral?? Explain how your generator neutral earthing and the grid earthing was carried out?
Most installations I have seen run a copper conductor from the arresters straight down to a ground grid connection. This conductor should be as straight and as short as possible.
Since it is operating only during the energisation, you can adopt a simple scheme by using the voltage poarised earth fault relay. This can distinguish exactly between the earth fault and inrush.
Try with the following tips.
1. Identify the leads with the continuity.
2. You can do the flicker test(like how you check the polarity of the CTs between primary and secondary) between two windings and based on the uniformity you can identify the sequence.
If motor is tripping while starting, you may have to look into the possibility to install the speed switch. For some fan motors generally the starting current will be more than stalling current.
