old sketcher interface in nx 1980?

We have been using the new sketcher here for a few months now. Some days I can see how it is supposed to work if you follow a new way of thinking, but most days I just hate it. It just flat don't work right. Aside from the whole persistent vs. non-persistent relations, it just don't work...

PROBLEM WITH INCLUDED ARC IN NEW SKETCHER

Are we the only ones having problems with included curves not updating? Chuck

PROBLEM WITH INCLUDED ARC IN NEW SKETCHER

Is anyone else having problems with included arcs in a sketch not updating related geometry? Not having any issues with included points or lines. When the original arc (part of another sketch) is changed, the included arc changes per the original, but any relations to that included arc do not...

    Plot Command Issues in NX1969

We had the same problem when we went to 1953. Plots would remove circles, but only on the right 12" of the plot. Unless we manually forced it to plot 90 degrees from what you would normally do and change the paper size to suit. Like plot a 24" x 36" on 24" paper instead of 36". We contacted...

pre hard steel for stamped part

Hi guys, I am reversing engineering a stamped part. I am a plastic injection mold designer and know practically nothing about stamping. So I am looking for some suggestions on what type of steel I am looking at. It is 1/8" thick (.121" to be exact) x 1 1/4 x 1 3/4. We have (5) samples of the...

    NEW hole callout

I agree. We are on the verge of starting to think about making a plan to begin the process of going metric. I am wondering if the need for dual dimensions is going by the wayside. Based on stuff like the new hole command not supporting dual dimensions, and the lack of complaints about it, I...

    NEW hole callout

Does anyone understand why the new hole callout does not do dual dimensions? I call it "new" because we just switched from 8.5 to 11. When I called tech support, they said that there has not been that many complaints about it, but there was an ER, and they did add me to the list. Also, are we...

GPM VS. PSI FOR A GIVEN PIPE DIAMETER

Latexman, thanks for the honesty. Time is not critical and I have never let not knowing how to do something keep me from trying. Question: Is this something I could learn to do if I took a class in fluid mechanics or does a person need degree? I am guessing that, since you recommend farming...

GPM VS. PSI FOR A GIVEN PIPE DIAMETER

Thanks guys for being patient with me as I learn how to ask this question. I know how many GPM I need to push thru each mold (it varies depending on a few things), but I want to verify that I can actually push the required GPM thru the mold, at a given 100 PSI with a 2" supply hose. Am I...

GPM VS. PSI FOR A GIVEN PIPE DIAMETER

You asked what the application is, and I probably should have mentioned it up front. But it is not civil or mechanical engineering. I am trying to figure out how much water I can push thru a plastic injection mold. Hence, the 10 ft. length. I am given water from a 2" hose at 100 psi and I am...

GPM VS. PSI FOR A GIVEN PIPE DIAMETER

GPM of water. And yes, the GPM should be high, in like the 200 GPM area. I have seen those books mentioned before in some google searches. Are those the "go to" books for calculations like this? Chuck

GPM VS. PSI FOR A GIVEN PIPE DIAMETER

Let me start by saying I don't know anything about fluid mechanics. I need to know how many GPM I can push thru a 2" pipe at 100 PSI. Assuming a length of 10 ft. And what would be the velocity. Seems like it would be a simple calculation. Can someone give me a formula? Thanks Chuck

JAGGED EDGES AND CURVES WINDOWS 7 UG 7.5.5.4

O.K., I was plenty happy with my old XP, but the computer guy put me on Windows 7. Now I have a graphics issue that we can't fix and everybody else on Windows 7 seems to just live with it. I have the same box with the old graphics card and other hardware. With XP I had no jagged edges or...

    Control of thread start

I know this may be old school, but I would model the threads manually. Create a profile in sketcher and sweep it along a helix curve. That way you KNOW where the tread start is. the helix curve will control how many turns, centerline, etc. The location of the sketch in relation to the end of...

TEXT IN MODELING NOT STAYING ASSOCIATIVE

Lines and arcs. Can you make notes stick to a face of a model? That could come in handy.

TEXT IN MODELING NOT STAYING ASSOCIATIVE

Sorry, 7.5.5.4. I see now. I was using the wrong type. The way I WAS doing worked fine the first couple times I used it, just so happened to be perpendicular to the "X" axis. Using On Face is the answer. Thanks!

TEXT IN MODELING NOT STAYING ASSOCIATIVE

Why does the text in modeling not stay with the planar face it is placed on when the face is normal to the "Y" axis. If I place it on the a face normal to the "X" axis, and move that face, the text moves with it, as I would expect. I select the "associative" option when I create the text, but...

    THREADED HOLE NOT DISPLAYED CORRECTLY

I know this shouldn't make a difference, but when I put one hole in a simple block, it works fine. But when I put a couple hundred holes in a plate, I have to change to an independant view. This has happened to 3 different users on 3 different boxes, that's why I am scratching my head.

    THREADED HOLE NOT DISPLAYED CORRECTLY

Sorry, I should have been more specific, it's the plan view that we have trouble with. Never had a problem with sections, like the other thread I found on the topic.

    THREADED HOLE NOT DISPLAYED CORRECTLY

We are on 7.5.5.4 but I don't remember if we had this problem on the previous release or not. When we create a detailed view that includes threaded holes the hidden lines do not appear. We only see the tap drill. The threaded holes are displayed correctly in the parent view. The only way we...
