Is attached on their drawings or "overlaid"?
Try changing the XREF to overlay on the R14 files.
That might be blocking you.
One test to do ... is to wait for everyone to go home.
Then open that same file with the r14 file XREF'd.
Does it open fine?
If so then chances are the R14...
I have to agree with CADaver, if the person can't take the pressure of an interview, than what will she/ he do when it's crunch time.
But CADqueen's point about people's machine is valid. That's why we don't ask them to draw.
But the face-to-face "faceoff" oral exam seems to go faster...
Based on a post by "Chicopee", I'm curious what screening process do people implement to hire AutoCAD draftsmen.
Here we implement a "Spanish Inquistion".
Guy/ girl comes in and we ask ...
What are defpoints?
What specail about it?
How many grips on a line versus a pline...
Dude,
BorgUnit is right ... [wink]
Just to add to that note ...
Make sure ...
imageframe=on
If this is off, you won't be able to manipulate the iamge.
Hope that helps. [spin]

Greenwire,
We had a similar problem.
I accused the IT group that it was their network.
And they checked the network to see if they were running anything. The analysis came back as nothing was being done.
We have 25 offices here in the states and another 8 or so aboard.
Anyway, other offices...
Your right about the V8 issue with AutoCAD add-ons ... [neutral].
Bentley only took a few steps towards addressing the DWG format.
More and more companies are using the "Achitecural Desktop"; "Revit"; "Land Desk Development"; etc.... on top of AutoCAD. [neutral]...
Try a general command ... like ...
(load lisp)
type the above in the prompt line and hit enter.
then the "ESC" keep.
Then try your properties.
hope that helps.

Dude,
Not to "break-balls" here ... But ... [neutral]
If you did the task of exploding the text .. you would see that BPOLY wouldn't work well. [sadeyes]
For some reason ... unknown to me ... fonts explode into "jagged" edges.
This is why it's best to "manually"...
Not sure ... hmmm ... but what about 3DSOUT then doing a 3DSIN ... since the SOLdraw/ SOLview don't work.
Also since XREFs are the issue ...
I would try to plot to a DWF or WMF or DXB or DXF ...
Hope one of those help.

CADaver,
ASIDE from the border ISSUE!!! [rednose]
Your 1st post in this thread would imply you do use XREFs for other files.
I only ask since the rest of the posts here seemed to go off in a direction against XREFing in general.
I just wanted to confirm that XREFs do have their place in our...
Thanks for the star EXIT!
I assumed you gave one of them.
Also, you're right about the TXTEXP command! [rednose]
The "True Type Font" issue can be limited by font size.
The larger the font size the more lines are added IN for the fill ....
Hence, if one sets the height to 1/8"...
You can accomplish the same thing in a "SCRIPT" file.
Also ... I'm not sure but it sounds like "checkstandards" might be a command to look into.
This command requires to setup a DWS file which is applied to all DWGs. And this can be done in BATCH. Just go to the DOS window...
Another guy here wanted the same thing ...
Here's the link to that thread ...
thread555-53611
Now... just a heads up ...
"EXIT" will suggest the "text explode" command ...
But you need the "Express Tools" for that ...
And that set of tools needs to be purchased...
Dude,
How do you deal with users moving the border?
Another reason to XREF the "title frame" as you put it ...
is you can "lock" the layer the XREF was brought in on....
if you lock the layer as a block than you can't edit it ...
also accidental deletions are avoided with a...
Have you tried to DXBOUT of AutoCAD?
The DXB file should cause your text to break down into ARCs & LINEs.
Hope that helps.
Sorry in advance if it doesn't work. [sadeyes]

I'm assuming you're exporting out of "RENDER" mode in AutoCAD. Right????
If so, here's what I figured out with the help of Photoshop.
When I export out of AutoCAD and I go to the options for FILE and I choose BMP ... and I choose "USER DEFINED" for size ....
52 pixels...
Have you tried placing the dimension in your sheet file?
.
Under the pull down for ELEMENT>DIMENSION>PLACEMENT ...
Check the box that says "Reference File Units".
The "DIM" should scale to your reference file.
Hope that helps. [spin]
Not sure if I understand the question but are you asking for the keyin?
aa=
<enter key>
(click on the screen allows to list the active angle)
the keyin
.
active scale distance
.
(This gives you the scale factor/ active scale needed between 2 different scaled items.)
.
I'm sure I screwed up the...
Yes -
To your 1st question.
(Do I save the file with an extension "*.SCR"?)
Anywhere you want -
To the next question
(Where do I save it?)
As for running it ....
Go to the pull down "TOOLS" > "RUN SCRIPT"
This should pull up a browser ....
Then just point to it...
