boundary conditions for sphere in rotation and translation

Hi, as a understand the model consists of solid elements in the plate and the sphere as well. Solid elements have only 3 DOFs(translations) x, y and z. NO ROTATIONS exists for solid elements! The plate should only be fixed by specifying theses DOFs to zero. Specfying a predefined rotation of the...

boundary conditions for sphere in rotation and translation

Set the BC to zero in desired directions for the plate, do it in the "initial state" and the let the BCs propagate to the subsquemt STEPs. Choose "edge" geometry to apply BC on.

boundary conditions for sphere in rotation and translation

If you build the model in the CAE, you apply the BCs in Load > BC.

Sub-Model at a specified location of Global model?

You can draw the sub-model in the patrt-module regardless of the coordinates directions. Then create a coord-system in the part positioned to express the desirde coordinate-values for the corners.

Abaqus Heat Transfer on an aluminium cylinder

Yes, you can give a formula for the local heat transfer coefficient by using the subroutine FILM. In this outine the local temperature of the current node in the call is available for you.

    Automatic Stabilization

It creates a non-real viscous stiffness to avoid zero stiffness. The more you increas the factor the more stiffness and better convergence but less realistic solution.

    Cross-section forces

Create a BOLT pre-tension section in a first STEP, use "fix bolt length". Create a time-history of the sectional forces for the pre-tension section. Apply the whatever loads in the next STEP(s).

    Submodel help.

Hello Simon012, I have no experience of changing material properties. However, I believe You should change the *Initial conditions of the relevant parts in the sub-model as You did in the global-model. As I understand, your sub-model extends into regions where you change the material...

    Submodel help.

I use submodelling sometimes. Its better to prepare the GLOBAL model for its use as governer of the SUB model. 1. Create a cell by partition in the GLOBAL model. Use this cell as the SUB model later on. 2. Create *Nset on the interfaces between the cell and the rest of the GLOBAL model. 3. Print...

    Preload Bolt

    1. I suppose you have a predefined mounting force to be applied on the bolt. 2. Then you I suppose you have an EXTERNAL load to be applied on the structure, not on the bolt nessescarly. The model consist, as I believe of the bolt and at least one other structure, stretching between the...

    Preload Bolt

The pre-tension section divides the bolt into two parts. The force or distance between the two surfaces, created when defining the "cut" is governed by either a prescribed force or a prescribed distance. If a prescribed force is to be applied, the both parts of the bolt are NOT allowed to be free.

    submodelling techique- help

Caution about loads, You should applly loads to the submodel ONLY if the load acts on the subregion. Fpr example a presure load on a certain surface of the global model should NOT be applied to the sub-model IF this sub-model does NOT extend right up to this loaded surface. The gravity applies...
