HI DEAR ENGINEERS
WE HAVE A PROCESS DATASHEET FOR DESIGN A SHELL AND TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER TYPE "BKU". IN THE DATASHEET WE HAVE SOME PROPERTIES OF DESIRED FLUIDS. ONE OF THE FLUIDS IS ETHANE (THAT WE DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH IT ) AND THE OTHER ONE IS "3G REFRIGERANT" . WE ONLY HAVE THESE PROPERTIES: DENSITY ,VISCOSITY , DEW/BUBBLE POINT ,SPECIFIC HEAT , THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY , ENTHALPY OF 3G REFRIGERANT THAT ARE SPECIFIED IN THE DATASHEET AND IT IS FLEW IN THE SHELL SIDE (AS COLD FLUID).

NOW I WANT TO DESIGN THE KETTLE IN "HTRI" BUT I CAN'T DO IT BECAUSE HTRI CAN'T RECOGNIZE THE 3G REFRIGERANT AND I DON'T HAVE NO MORE DATA ABOUT 3G REFRIGERANT.

DO YOU NOW HOW CAN I DESIGN THE KETTLE WITH THESE PROPERTIES OF FLUID?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

I SHOULD ADD : THE 3G REFRIGERANT IN THE INLET IS A MIXED FLUID. AND HTRI WANT FROM US TOW CONSTANT (LATENT HEAT AND CRITICAL PRESSURE) THAT WE DON'T HAVE THEM .

I'M SO CONFUSED AND NEED YOUR HELP IMMEDIATELY .

I am assuming you are using HTRI v7. Instruction slightly different for other versions.

Go to -Cold Fluid Properties -> Grid Properties (Make sure that under Cold Fluid Properties, you selected the option "User specified grid")
I am assuming you have the physical properties at various temperatures, and begin filling out the information marked as "Required: Yes". If the fluid does not become super-critical within the operating range, just set the critical pressure to some arbitrary number that the fluid will never reach (ex. 5000 psi if operating at 200 psi).

Let me know if you have any specific issues.

thank you Afox88
but I'm using HTRI V6 sp2
and i have the properties in tow temperature that are pointed . are they enough?
our fluid isn't in critical condition

I have used HTRI v6 sp2. It is close enough. The same instructions should generally apply.

What do you mean by tow temperatures? I am not familiar with the terminology.
