Simsim, I don't know of any sites offhand, but aluminum fins are common on standard copper coils, probably due to their excellent ability to conduct heat, low cost to manufacture, and corrosion compatability with copper... Best I can recommend after that is a web search for "cooling coil design." -CB

Dear ChasBean1,
thanks for your help, i want to know why they use
aluminum coated fin instead of aluminum fin in mini
split high wall unit
thanks osama

Simsim, the trend is to use coated fins on condensers. This is to prevent corrosion of the fins due to exposure to the athmosphere. particularly if the athmosphere is corrosive 9close to industrial exhausts) or exposure to saline air 9close to sea coast etc). Normally evaporator coils are not coated in airconditioning, since the coils is always having saturated air. Not really needed. Coated coils are expensive.

VEEKRISH thanks, but as i knew they must use this type of aluminum coated fin in the evaporator for high wall mini split units due to contact angle of water condensat on the fin so the water will not spread to air coming out from the indoor unit, thanks
