I'm doing a new hydroprocessing project handling heavy residue fluid. From the Process Design, some valves are specified as flushing oil connections are necessary for those valves putting the oil continuously to prevent coke but the injection rate for each valves is not shown. (they are shown on P&IDs)
Licensor said this injection flow rate and the equipment regarding flushing oil injection such as drum, pump and etc. are to be developed by detail design contractor. (EPC contractor)
I would like to know if this engineering work can be done by EPC contractor as there is no clue for designing the flushing oil system. This is my first time to have this flushing oil system putting flushing oil into valves or instrument line, so it would be appreciated if you let me know this is common practice or do I need to tell Licensor to give more information to design it.
