For now, they (technicians) are talking about failures in the foundations.

Not just a good idea;
It's the LAW!

Demolition is also in the skill set of the sapper (combat engineer).

Yes, like the USCGC Munro (WMSL-755), a Legend Class Coast Guard cutter as seen from the Aloha Tower in the Port of Honolulu, Hawaii:

We've managedto go seriously off track here!

Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

We reached the end of the bridge, so to speak.

No word on the demolition, but (google translated)

Metal bridge installation begins

On the Cusiana road, kilometer 84 of the Sogamoso - Aguazul road, in the jurisdiction of Pajarito, the installation of a metallic bridge began to replace the concrete bridge located over the Negra ravine, in the Cusiana cross-section.

The bridge has similar characteristics to those installed on the Bogotá - Villavicencio road, with a length of 42 meters and a maximum capacity for vehicles of up to 52 tons.

A friends' daughter was an armorer in the CG. "My gun shoots over the horizon" she said :)

The horizon is only ~3 miles on flat ocean, small-arms carry almost that far. The oft-denigrated "weak" 5.56 NATO reaches ~80% of that distance, 7.62 a bit more, which is why the military places a major emphasis on shooters "owning" every round fired to prevent collateral damage.

It doesn't look dissimilar to the bridge that collapsed in Palau in 1996, which I recall was an unusual sort of creep-induced collapse.

I believe she was talking about the 5 in gun...

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

I did get to tour the below decks and watch the gun dry fire on a 378' cutter once. Quite the machine, one arm feeding a round in and one arm taking the shell out. Everything was conveyor fed to and from the gun. I think it was 120 rounds per minute. 3 inch shells.

Continuing this minor digression, consider the 8" (200mm) guns on the USS Salem:

10 rounds per minute, 9 guns

90 rounds per minute. One every 2/3 second.

firing rate of the current 5" gun is 16-20 rounds per minute:

and for the 3", about 80 rounds per minute, though 120 shows up elsewhere:

The USCG has some of the best snipers in the business - probably the only ones trained to hit moving targets from moving platforms. This is usually disabling outboard motors on drug runners from a helicopter.
