At one of our facilities we have a Vertical boiler which uses a Rotary Cup Burner, The unit is rated for 5400KW and is very old. A specialized contractor has now recommended replacing the burner with a new one due to problems that we have been facing with the current one. The contractor is recommending a nozzle type burner instead of the rotary cup burner which we currently have so my question is if there is any difference between the two types ?. I am not an expert in this field but what worries me is that the difference may be with the flame shape, i am afraid the nozzle type burner will have a longer flame which will focus the flame on the boiler wall, the boiler is vertical and the burner is placed on the side so what worries me is that the flame will be focused on the boiler wall and overheat a specific area where the flame is pointing. so i am looking forward to hear from you guys and see what you think and if there is any thing to be worried about.
