Hi, my PC is going through some hard time and it crashed the last time I tried to save a solidworks 2015 part file.
After a reboot I found that solidworks can no longer open the file because of some error that it created during the crash.
I really need the geometry in that file, but I dont want to go through the process of recreating the part from scratch.
Can anyone please try to open it from NX10? I believe the two communicate. Since I have NX9, I am helpless.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a hope that NX will recognize the geometry. SW is trying to load all the headers and properties, materials, colors, revolves, extrudes etc. etc. If it encounters an error in either one of those, it fails. I hope that NX, however, will ignore the error and still reveal the geometry, which is clearly there, judging by the size of the file.

You can just give it a try and see what happens
In The File -> Open menu change the file type in the pull-down to a SolidWorks file then open it and see what happens.

NX9 doesnt recognize SW2015 files, I have tried that before. Thats why I need someone with the posession of NX10.
Please, can anyone respond?

Karlis,

You need to attach a file if you want somebody to try it.

I get an PLM Xml Error when I try to open the file sorry.

Damn it.. I guess its hopeless. Thanks for trying.
