Hi
We are erecting 2 water tanks about 12 metres high in a cyclonic region (wind speed 73m/s). Tanks are about 3 metres apart. We will be having a common platform between them. Should the base frame of the common platform be CHANNELS or I- BEAMS or dosen't make a difference. If I use channels I will be bracing (perpendicular) them with channels at 2 locations equidistant (i.e channel divided into 3 equal parts). I will use a sliding connection at one end (i.e. slotted holes). I intend to rest the platform base frame on cut (triangular) I-beams attached to the tanks (2 per tank) - slotted at one tank as previously mentioned.
Do you think this setup would work. Platform is 700mm wide will be using standard grating (Webforge 725 or similar).
Your input would be appreciated. Will probably use 250C channels, but will work it out.
