I have an issue where our current set up to clean our conveyor using 2 scrapers, a roller brush, and water sprayer are not removing all of the dry material. This leads to "carry back" on the belt return that ends up dusting the parking lot. To add to this problem, the sprayer will not be running in the upcoming cold winter months.

Does anyone know of any alternative products/methods that could be recommended to aid in removing dust/debris from the conveyor?

Included is a picture of the belt return, after the scrapers and brush, but before the water sprayer.

Many thanks,
Paddy

Move the parking lot or enclose the conveyor.

Belt = Polyester Conveyor Belt RMA-II 3ply PIW 330

Material being conveyed = gypsum

Excuse my ignorance, but what is belt turnover? Are you referring to the transfer point for the material?

This is one possibility I have not heard of, thank you dvd.

Gypsum gets pretty tacky when it's wet, or even damp. Try forced-air drying the belt? Past that, I'd think you'd need to scrub with a detergent + water, but that doesn't help you keep the product dry.

Seems to me, Gypsum will compress into the belt if you try a turnover.

Have you considered an enclosed section, with an air knife and vacuum chamber?

The air knife will blast a lot off, and the vacuum will collect the dust.

btrueblood forced air drying recommendation is good however an additional water spray curtain surrounding the conveyor belts cleaning system to trap fine dust particle before going airborne is suggested. Instead of water spray, enclose the forced air area with fabric and include an approved vacuum system designed to capture the fine dust. Dust in the parking lot is the least of your probem as I would be more concerned with respiratory ailments to the worker and public; plus EPA may have something to say about air borne dust.

Sorry for just seeing your post.
Is the roller brush driven independent of the conveyor belt or are you relying on the belt to rotate the brush? If not, ensure that the brush runs faster then the belt surface speed
Is the brush contra rotating to the belt travel?
Has the brush got a spiral weave as this tends to give some sideways cleaning effect as well.
