I am trying to detail a spring made from a square section and using the 'swept'feature along a helix. When it comes to producing the detail drawing of the component I cannot get a center point to dimension to any of the other geometry to. Is there some way of getting a reference in the centre of this 'swept' feature in the drawing.
Thanks, Stuart

As per my knowledge picking the dimension points in spring model is a difficult task..juz go through the image attached and is that are you looking for???if so the highlighted center lines has been drwn in EXPAND MODE..other dimensions and center mark can be obtained easily....can any one suggest me a better option for this....

StuT509,

If you've swept the section then it probably doesn't define a perfect circle or ellipse for the drafting package to find the centre of. Try checking the edge geometries if they don't resolve to either an arc or an ellipse then the world doesn't end if you have to construct a point to place you're centrelines to.

As hudson said ..yes its very dificult task to get centre line or center mark to such profiles..but i think we can get centre mark for profile you asking for.by selecting one of the edge we can achieve the task ..check out the image...

SORRY FOR GRAMMER MISTAKES..

Thanks naresh843,

I tried this on a sweep along guide and it works fine as you can pick on the edge. Using the swept feature which I need to use in order to control the orientation of the square section it does not appear to work. I tried Hudsons suggestion with a constructed point and that worked. Thanks to both for your help, much appreciated.
