The ties should burn well, I suspect... That's an awful lot of cattle to get rid of... can't they just haul it out to sea? That's the normal solution to trash problems. [pipe]

I seem to recall signage in the washrooms not to flush at the station.

This reminds me of something similar that took place in Michigan in 1973-74, where a screw-up at a chemical plant resulted in bags of fire-retardant being mislabeled as a feed supplement, which then got mixed into a batch of livestock feed. When this was discovered, rather than destroying the tainted feed, the state Farm Bureau, which was distributing the feed, simply mixed in more feed stock with the hope that they could dilute the fire-retardant to the point where it would no longer be a hazard. This proved to be a very stupid and tragic decision. Before it was over, more than 32,000 cattle, pigs, sheep, and poultry had to be slaughtered and disposed of in a massive landfill dug in an area where large natural clay deposits were common. This site was about 60 miles from where I was born and raised. Note that the item below was published five years ago:

Forty years ago, Michigan had one of worst mass poisonings in U.S. history

Apparently they did burn well according to my cousin.

Thankfully I was well away from it although I did see a big burn near Hull from the ferry from Amsterdam coming into port and then smelled it with about 10 miles to go.

They pretty much locked down the areas to none farmers/locals. And they had to drive through lime pits in cars and walk through them as well.

The ol' dilution is the solution to pollution.

I guess burning the contaminated animals was not an option?

Hopper toilet (Wikipedia®)
The traditional method of disposing human waste from trains is to deposit the waste onto the tracks or, more often, onto nearby ground using what is known as a hopper toilet. This ranges from a hole in the floor to a full-flush system (possibly with sterilization). The hole in the floor (also known as a drop chute toilet or direct flush toilet) system is still in use in many parts of the world, particularly on older rolling stock. Link

In the United States, Amtrak phased out its use of these toilets in the 1980s after waste from a Silver Meteor train crossing the St. Johns River in Florida, between Palatka and DeLand, landed on a fisherman who filed a lawsuit.[2]

Try switching over to oat milk. There's far less bloodshed involved. 2 heaped tablespoons of rolled oats simmer boiled with a cup of water to go with breakfast coffee.

Well that is more survivable than being hit by a Boeing Bomb.

They haven dumped sweage out of planes since the 70's

They do put out liquid sink waste

You occasionally have a faulty tank valve that leaks blue down the aircraft sides

@dik,
Frankly, I dont trust these plant milks in supermarket aisles (soy, almond, rice) - they've got some kind of nasty emulsifier to keep the grain particles stable in suspension. I've tried making soy milk at home but it always settles on standing. Home made oat milk is the closest looking milk to dairy to me, and it has no nasties in it. Coconut milk in cans or cartons is also naturally stable, but it has too much vegetable fat.

colloid
noun
col·loid ˈkä-ˌlȯid
2
a
: a substance that consists of particles dispersed throughout another substance which are too small for resolution with an ordinary light microscope but are incapable of passing through a semipermeable membrane
b
: a mixture consisting of a colloid together with the medium in which it is dispersed

That is what Milk is, and it includes fats. Oat milk is human created, and likely will not stay in suspension.

I've been using soy milk for about 20 years, and find it a good substitute. My wife was lactose intolerant. I still shake the container before pouring... never had an issue of it separating, but some milk alternatives, do. Only use soy now.

I don't use almond milk, and never have, because it's very 'water unfriendly'.

Go to Finland on holiday. There is more lactose free milk in the supermarket than normal.

It's a bit of a battle to find full strength pasteurised.

I don't use much milk so I have started buying Fairlife.
It is ultra-filtered.
Lactose free, lower sugar, all of the protein and calcium.
The full version looks like milk, tastes like milk, and has very long useful life.

My international experience is milk is very different depending what country your in.

Irish I reckon is the best tasting.

If you ask a farmer what to use to fatten calf's up they will always say skimmed milk. Quite why I have no clue.

Full fat milk has a very low GI anyway.

Some information has been disclosed with respect to the cause of the explosion at the dairy in Texas:

Cause Of Dairy Farm Fire That Killed 18,000 Cows Confirmed

State investigators have determined what started the explosion and massive barn fire in the Texas Panhandle.
